Seeing as you are doing so well and are a Kona Man, why not get yourself a Kona Honky Inc as a Xmas pressie? By all reports from members here, thay are a stunning ride, not to mention that they look amazing 8) I love my 2yo Kona DewDrop commuter 8)

Shaun

To be honest I’ve started to seriously think about my first Road Bike. First hurdle is to pay off my credit card but this is giving me time to 1) acquire fitness and confidence 2) learn exactly what I want / need and can afford.

The Kona Honky Inc looked very nice though......

I probably wouldn't mind too much for a 20-30 km ride as long as a HUGE part of it was on a fast veloway/quiet road. I could use my roadie instead of my commuter. Hmmm but then again I stop/do things on the way home, so I need panniers most days.

crazy hardcore cyclists :!:
I use a roadie, after my hybrid got wrecked. I actually just bought alone of those Topeak mtx quick release racks and bag with panniers from Evans. Finally getting the backpack off, and can take off the rack in about 2 secs when going for a serious ride.

Oh, and did the 36k commute again on Friday. Going to make it weekly over the school holidays, and I think.

Cheers,
Dave

Mine's 25-27km each way, which I try to do at least 2 times a week.

I can't see that option in this poll though.

yeh.. where the > 15km option?

I too have 25km each way. Try at least twice a week, limited by having to move across multiple work sites some days.

Mine's 14.8km each way - excluding getting into apartment complex and up the stairs

Have been riding MTB, now on a roadie won on ebay - suddenly I don't hate the stairs anymore

Commute is 26km typically but I've been going an alternative route which takes it up to 50km... less time to ride on the weekends so trying to pick up the slack during the week. 4am wake-up isn't my favourite past-time but!

I've upped my typical commute (as of the beginning of March) to ~30KM each way, five days a week.

I'm loving the time on the bike ... it's the getting out of bed earlier in the morning that I'm struggling with. Turns out that I'm definitely not an early morning kind of person!

I think you need an extra couple of buttons. There would be many MANY here who's ride would be considerably longer than 15km.

I ride to work all work days all year. My full ride is 17km in, 18km on the way home via the usual detour. But as often as not I often drop a leg or two to reduce a trip either way down to as low as 5km each way, With extra riding outside of work I am averaging somewhere around 150km a week. My average commute would be somewhere between 15 and 20 I would guess. I know it takes me forever to get to and from! :(

27 km each way...average 216 km a week depending on how late i may finish work [my general rule of thumb is that if i finish work by 8.30 p.m i will ride home]...regardless i ride INTO work 4-5 times a week

lengh of commute

Postby argon_18 » Fri May 11, 2012 3:01 pm

Have only just in the last 2 weeks started to commute. 10years or so off the mountain bike, picked myself up a decent Cannondale CAAD 10.

I’ve got a second car only for the next week and started driving to about 7kms out of town and riding in. After about half a dozen rides I’m ready to push it out another couple of kms next week (up some big hills) and then when I no longer have the car will be commuting 12.5km each way every day, CBD to Mt Gravatt

So far so good and really loving riding again.

Mine is about 13km each way, my max range is about 30km before I'm dead on my feet so it's not too rough to do 2x13km a day.

Mine's 27km to work and 33.5km from work (between Ringwood North and Melbourne CBD). The longer home commute is because it's afternoon and I take some shared paths to avoid the traffic. The round-trip commute averages about 900m climbing, so I get plenty of hill-climbing done during the week.

~25 km's each way depending on what detours may occur. The morning commute seems to be alot longer than the evening one.

I ride from the hills to the eastern suburbs of Sydney. 53 km each way. If I catch the train half way through I do 2 separate rides which make 26 km.

I usually ride the whole way in and catch the train on the way home, making 80 km per day that I ride. Whole trip has 650m of ascent and takes between 2 hrs and 2 hrs 20 mins.
