He was with me. No climbing for him, and few turns on the front...

Picture perfect morning so headed out to Cotter for loop which included Condor Creek. It was so peaceful riding up to the end of the bitumen with next to no traffic and gorgeous cool weather coming off the forest. Really love that climb :)

102km all up or thereabouts.

Got up nice and early to ride. Changed a tube... realised my tyre was faulty... changed the tyre. Decided to put on my new bidon cages... after much wailing and gnashing of teeth, admitted that my screws weren't long enough* (that's what she said), so rode to Mitchell (Nuts, Bolts & Screws on Sandford St) and bought some. Rode home (Downer) fitted new cages. Set new computer up, including cadence sensor (loving it!), and took annoying stickers off new wheels (on new bike - see signature). Adjusted my seat a bit (Home Bike Fit 101: Using The Internet - lol).

By this time it was really too hot to ride, so I had lunch and sat in front of the box for an hour........ then I decided to just ride anyway... and of course by now it was several degrees warmer lols

LONG STORY SHORT: Smashed my Lake BG PB on my first real ride on the new steed, despite not being used to drop bars, and having a truly AWFUL seat. So... woot :D   :D

* Di2 stuff + pump frame + screws not fitting into recesses on my new cages = perfect storm of screw-too-shortness

80kms today.

Downer->Coppins Crossing Rd->Uriarra Rd to the river->back along Uriarra Rd->Cotter Rd->around the lake from Lady Denman, Kingston, wetlands, city->then Downer

Being used to the Fed, I find these country roads:
1) Bumpy...
2) Scary - no shoulder

The hills were fun! (<- lies)

First time I've ridden out that way and I was loving the descents! ...got a bit of a nasty surprise after I turned around to go back along Uriarra. :?

I'm still fiddling with the bars and seat on my new bike. I was a bit stretched out today, which is not ideal for hills... but really good to find out before BCBR next weekend. Adjusted my bars half way home, will put seat forward just a touch, and I'll be set. :)

Which BCBR are you doing? Wondering what will happen if the roads ain't open by then out Uriarra/Cotter way. Found out the hard way Cotter is also still closed on Sat morning.

The 105 of course! Anything else is just lazy :)

I think the roads will be fine... it's technically closed, but I could have ridden across no dramas... and hey, if the bridge is flooded, we just wade across carrying our bikes right?

Must have dropped a bit over Uriarra since Sat then. When I was out there Sat morning the water was fast flowing and a good half metre over the crossing. No way I would have been wading across that :P

Anyway I don't really care cause I will be sitting in the grandstand watching the F1 in Melb come this weekend :P

Uriarra Crossing is now open, I think Cotter is still closed though. Good to hear you are enjoying the new bike, Mezla.

:) I really am enjoying it. Got my fit right today... almost... I think I might lower my stem a centimeter... feeling a little too upright.

Good to hear the roads are open (officially). Will have to do a BCBR test ride one day this week. *checks forecast* WOW! Awesome forecast for the week! (bar isolated showers - which is code for "a little rain in Tuggeranong")

Ok, did my first ever Cotter Uriarra loop today after work... was pretty tired to begin with and oh boy... may need to lose some weight if I'm gonna do that more often

Hauling my 90kg ass up all those hills geebers. I think it'd be fine if I wasn't feeling kinda !! BAN ME NOW FOR SWEARING !! before starting... and maybe if I consumed something more than water too. Probably didn't help that all I ate all day was an egg, bacon and cheese roll at 11:30

Also... the shoulder of Parkes Way is RIDICULOUSLY BUMPY. Awful... like riding on friggin corrugated tin!

At least you are on the bike, last time I rode was last Sunday. I've gained about 3kg since being off the bike.

Crashing a bike at 60km/h tends to slow you down a bit.

Fair enough, the way you mentioned it in the other thread did not make it sound that bad.
