HAHAHA - I needed to save my legs for tonights crit, but from the TT last night and this mornings ride...my legs arent fresh.

Another interesting RBWR. A new course was plotted and a few of the East Coast Canter riders ventured out to test the legs.

15 starters. Lost Div 2 early to leave 14. Lost on at an early opportunity to leave 13. Lost one up Cole Hill - saving his legs I believe - 12. Three turned at the top of Cole hill - down to 9. And they raced back at pace.

Weather was Richmond beautiful. Wind in the face on the way out and helpful on the way back. Coffee talk was of high quality once again.

What about Richmond Bakery Ride - in France in 2013? Partners and all welcome? We could go over like the Drs groups and hire campervans and tour for 7-10-21 days. Whatever you choose. My partner and I have a draft plan on going over atm.

Another Wednesday RBRrun and done. Everyone was trying to ignore the prospect of putting a team in Le Tour next year as per RobRollin's suggestion and forged ahead.

18 starters in two divisions headed off for the standard Tea Tree circuit - 14 in Div 1 and 4 in Div 2. That quickly changed on Water Tower with Div 1 catching the 2s and leaving a few behind with mechanicals or not enough speed! Being the mechanical I cursed my trusty steed for the rest of the ride before bailing out and getting back early for the important part of drinking coffee.

The boys got a bit excited on the way back with breakaways, strong surges and the usual sprint. Weather was perfect. Cakes were nice. Coffee was great. -- Next week.

Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control on Monday I wasnt able to take part in this glorious ride. However I am planning my return.

Another RBWR done and dusted. 17 smiling faces turned out on a beautiful morning at Richmond ready and raring to go. The "elite" bunch took off early - as they do - but not being quite as organised as others managed to leave half of their number behind!! Oh dear. Anyway this was a return to a well-liked route that was made up of a trundle out to the top of Cole Hill, and return to Richmond via a loop of Fingerpost Road. The wind was a bit everywhere at various times but not strong enough to affect to often.

The climb up the hill obviously stirred the boys up and a series of surges and semi-surges brought a few grumbles from those looking for a smooth ride in the back of the pack. Fingerpost saw a further selection with the numbers in the "Elite" group swelling as compared to the ride out to the highway and back. It all settled down for a very short while until the turn back towards Richmond where surges again became the rule and the bunch strung out with those looking for a win at the front and those concerned about coffee at the back.

As always the important part of the ride took place around the table at the Bakery with coffee and lots of laughter.

This might be a good time to buy shares in Richmond Bakery. Their next profit announcement will be up due to the RBWR boom. Missed Robrollin today. Rumour has it that he has bigger fish to fry on the roundy roundy course.

Sixteen riders jostled for everything except the lead position as we idled out of the bakery carpark at 9.00.00 am this morning. Rex arrived at 9.03.21am to face a "meet ya goin tuther way" ride, however he had an excuse. Bedlam on the Tasman bridge due to two cyclists colliding.
Whatever took place on the ride today is largely a mystery to me; my prayers that the leading group might wait were unanswered; that they might consider the bonus kms a U turn had to offer were unanswered; that they might encounter a puncture were unanswered and of course the added wish that they might instal an already punctured spare tube was just a forlorn hope.

It really was an enjoyable ride, and the Bakery gathering post ride a joy to experience.

Seven sleeps, and it is on again.

I'm not too sure what happened out there today. It was probably the most un-gentlemanly gentleman's ride we have seen yet I found the secret and did the sensible thing and turned early to move from the last bunch to sit on the front bunch and snagged the sprint.

Perhaps the benovolent may have to become the malevolent and lay down a few laws for the next ride??

Fourteen gentlmenly participants rolled out of Richmond today, all intent on ensuring that the other thirteen enjoyed a comfortable, enjoyable, pain free ride, whilst enhancing health , happiness, and friendship.
The Baskerville course ensured that none of the goals were achieved, due to the "undulating" terrain.
Coffee back at Richmond was superb as usual, and I can (again) commend the Jaffa Balls for a real taste treat.
The performance of the day was by an anonymous entrant, who should have been at work in Melbourne.

I have a bit of inside knowledge that -after the success of an undulating course this week - richmond-bowen-baskerville-brighton-richmond - that the course setter might be looking at a jaunt up to the top of Bust-Me-Gall and back next week. If that is the case it might be worth considering gearing carefully beforehand.

Another beautiful morning in Richmond. An enjoyable ride had by some - and others still recovering a couple of hours later!

The suggested Bust-Me-Gall ride didn't eventuate given the significant cloud activity suggesting lots of rain. So, back to the tea tree ciruit with a single group of 10 and a reasonably fresh breeze to hurt the front riders. The boys competely ignored the thougths of Master6 and simpy refused to ride with intervals of 200m between riders - but it seems like some were trying to make that happen.

Ray was obviously smarting at comments from last week about not doing much on the front ans set the tempo high. Just when we thought it was safe we turned into Back Tea Tree and Sam the Slayer took over and immediately decimated the bunch. Everyone just fort of hung on from there with a few attempts to box Sam in proving successful for short periods of time. The rain came just as we sat down for coffee which was a bit of a dampener and those of us who didn't have any energy left to talk any way - went home. Another RBWR next week!

Wonderful ride today.

Wonderful because:-
Sam got boxed in and had to temporarily curtail his dispensing of pain

I survived when Sam pulled a wobbly in front of me as he avoided the little masters rear wheel.

I survived when Sam pulled a foot in front of me at the start of water tower hill.

I survived when Sam found he had not reclipped his foot moments after the aforementioned debacle


The day was very much a "Day about Sam".
