Can anybody confirm start times for half century ride? I've seen 9am on a poster, 9am on the google site for bicycles tasmania, but 11am on the google site for tasmanian bike week.

And of course for those interested in doing a century ride and a half century ride on the same day and for seven days in a row - don't forget the "Ronde" as per thread on the Tasmania forum. That will get your kms stats off to a flyer for next year!

Dont forget the training rides at Richmond Bakery every Wednesday at 9am, which leads to "Special" training rides to prepare for the Ultimate "Training Ride Training Ride". Before you know it, you will find yourself riding up your own fundamental oriface.

BikeTas Century Ride is this Sunday 18th March, starting on the Eastern Shore. If you are interested in a mass ride on the road over the bridge to get to the start, meet at the Cenotaph at 8am. The more the merrier! when do we stop for coffee???

It turns out you can start at either time, so the half-century riders are spoilt for choice. If it's a case of "Honey I'll be home by midday" you can go the earlier start, do the half and still have brownie points.

Don't think ride over bridge on road is what Barry is suggesting. The ride is organised from Kangaroo Bay, there are no permits or police to ride a group over on the road. It would be just a bunch ride for those coming from city over to Kangaroo Bay.
Think that has helped BT bring the price down. Given the no. of rides that have been on & are coming up saving yourself a few dollars for the coffees is probably helpful.

well i think they might ride across thew bridge on the rd. IMO if you have more than a dozen riders, it is better to group up and ride on the rd as oppsoed to the "foot path" due to and incomming traffic on the foot path............ just saying see you there santa, or see you at Dome anyway  when do we stop for coffee???

I will join you at the cenotaph for a group ride over the bridge....much safer than the narrow pathway.

there are some interesting issues in this whole mass riding event, and riding over the bridge, and police involvement. Any rider can ride over the bridge at any time - i woudn't recommend it at peak hour but - 8 am on a Sunday morning doesn't require too much organisation. The need for a police permit is for an"event" that requires the closure of a public road or a race. Riding over the bridge as part of a mass ride is neither and, in my humble opinion, the requirements from police are a complete over-reaction and a process aimed at keeping cyclists in line rather than having any public safety issue. Its about time that the organisers of these event ask some specific questions with the intent of getting a definitive answer as to why motorised traffic has some priority over cycling. I'd like to be involved in that conversation.

I was keen on the 50, but I broke a pedal strap on the PMM ride and haven't got around to getting it fixed yet. If I can squeeze it in on Saturday I'll be there.
I hope it's marshalled well, the map I have of where to go has me way confused  Are the Kangaroo Bay Sports Grounds off Bastick Street or Cambridge Road?
