So how was everyone's BCBR?
The weather was fantastic and it was great to see so many cyclists out on the road. It was my first time out on those roads and loved it - i'll be out there again soon, either solo or in a group. I wasn't quite expecting the climbs to hurt so much - particularly urriara, where i think mrgolf zoomed past me up the hill, i assume on your second lap? The descents made the climbs worth it...
Great day, hopefully the ACT govt can put some shoulders on some of those roads to get more people out more often.

yeah was great. A good introduction to my new life in Canberra. Although I could feel the lack of training from the past few weeks (changing jobs, changing states, getting sick) in the legs. I had a couple of cramp twinges, the first being at the 45km mark.

Also before moving up I had plenty of people say "you're gonna miss the hills here as there are none in the ACT". They are liars, I was thinking "you beauty 105km on the flat, I should have this knocked over by about 2hrs 45". I was wrong big time.

First decent ride since crashing last weekend, I only did the 68km ride but it ended up being 100km round trip from home.

anyone who thinks canberra is flat has not been to canberra......the fact there are 4-5 hills within 5-10kms of parliament house is a good indication it isnt real flat..... Darwin on the other hand, is depressingly flat.

Easy ride on my new bike - nice having a compact with a 30tooth big cog on the back.
Skull - invite anyone who told you it is flat to do the Five Peaks on Apr 1st or Fitzs later in the year.

I finished at 2:55 solo at the front, with 13 minutes to the next group. Much faster than 35kmh av would require some serious bunch riding. There was no one in that league today.

Ross, saw you at the start. Glad to see you out!

I will be doing this, also I can from Hobart so they have an over abundance of hills there. But yeah, Canberra has a few nice ones, although nothing could match a HC climb (Mt Wellington) that starts from pretty much the middle of the Hobart CBD.
