I have Fyxation green tyres on cheap white deep v wheels at the moment. I think I have had to change the tubes maybe 6-8 times, I assume due to the tyre not seating properly, and as a result I get tubes bursting. Tubes have all been replaced at the LBS and I have never inflated over the PSI specs which is 110 max. The only way these seem to work on deep v's if you inflate at 80psi, anything more and you get the nasty sound of the tube popping. Has anyone else experienced or heard of this? I googled it and found 1 post in a blog with the same issue. Trying to work out whether I upgrade to better rims and keep the Fyxation tyres, or just get different tyres.

Sounds like you or your LBS need a lesson in how to seat tyres. Or you have crap wheels/rim tape.

I have occasionally run fyxation tyres before (on a large variety of different wheels including, Velocity B43's, Shimano WHR540's, Velocity Deep V's, H+Son TB14's, Miche Pistard's, Mavic Ellipse's and a Campagnolo Shamal) and never had a problem with pinch flats or tubes over-inflating/bursting or anything like that. The only time I ever punctured one was when I skidded through the tyre ripping a hole in the tube.

OR, you were putting a 23c tube in a 28c Fyxation tyre (which is more like a 32c) which means the tube is stretching more than designed, the walls are thinner and more prone to punctures.

They are a good tyre for use on the FRONT wheel only. The compound just shreds on the rear if you like to skid. Freewheeling should be no issue. You just need to wear that first smooth layer off because they are slippery as all hell in the wet until they have worn a bit.

IMO I think it is the rims. There was very little in the way of info on the interweb regarding the issue I was having, save for the one post on a blog that was similar to what I was experiencing. The LBS I go to do mostly singlespeed bikes and I have asked them about the tube bursting issue; they have fitted fyxation sessions tyres to other rims like mine with no dramas. I might quiz them re the tube size to correct the problem.. I have had better rim tape put on to no avail. I like the look of the fyxation tyre so I'll persist with them, my only issue was with there compatibility with rim types so as when I upgrade to better rims I don't have the same problem.
