New bike is getting me out and about
Postby Ken Ho » Sat Mar 24, 2012 5:49 pm
The new Rumblefish is getting a lot of use. So far, I've done a lot of path riding, and bombed a few stairs. I was gratified to find that as well as going down stairs, it also goes up them quite well. With a little momentum it floats up 5-6 stairs easily.
I've also been to Nerang and done some single track in very wet muddy conditions. Again, as well as going down stuff effortlessly, it also climbed up mud banks, rough rocky pitches and over logs easily.
Today, I went into Nullum NP, behind Mullumbimby, and did some trails and some tight single track, and had a ball again.
My legs are a little fried, but I'm grinning.

Ha, took my GoPro, but forgot to wear it, both times.Mugglechops wrote:Photos or it never happened
Maybe next week. I'm away for a few days on a Fi-Fo contract.
I'll get it muddy first.

Certainly did mr chops!... Nice ride.
Rode with a guy Thursday on a similar Niner but single speed with eccentric bb and enormous carbon single speed hubs!... Must have weighed under 10 kgs. Was very jealous!.

Just got home. Should get out tomorrow for a gentle spin.
What is your Trek ?
I'm thinking about going tubeless. Can I just convert the stock tyres on the Rhytthm Pro rims ? I'll need a tubeless stem, I know. Anything else ?

Its the Superfly Al. You can buy Bontrager rim strips for about $18. That's what I am doing with mine.

One of the guys on our group ride had one of those today. Really nice piece of kit.Mugglechops wrote:I need to find the drooling smiley after seeing that.

I believe you can get Crocs in a colour that will be a match for those pedals.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for lime and they suit the bike perfectly.Mugglechops wrote:I need to find the drooling smiley after seeing that.

I did get some Crank Brothers Candy, but I'm not in a hurry to clip in on it. I like the step-off option for now.
I'm madly in love with this bike. It was a bit of a punt, as there was nowhere for me to see one, before I ordered, but I did my research, and it's a perfect fit for me. The tyres are not the fastest things, but they hang on like psycho ex-girlfriend.
Ooooh, Crocs !! Perfect for my trip to Cairns for the RRR in a few weeks.
