Re: Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012Can you enter on the day? My ex is sick at the moment and I said I would take the kids if she is still sick so she can get some rest so I can not really commit until the day.
Re: Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012
sent you a pm with the contact details of the organiser. Litespeed Tuscany with SRAM Force and Open Pros - soon!
Re: Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012
No steep hills on the 100k, just lots of rolling hills...lots! One climb but fairly gentle, nothing like Coot-tha. It will be the wind, if it's blowing from the s/se, it will be mostly a head wind but it will be at our backs for the run back into Ipswich I'll look out for you at the start, I'll be there early as Mr MM is heading off at 6 with the 100mile ride...I'll be riding my black Scott! Lisa
Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012The forecasts is fine but windy for sunday .
Re: Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012
Better take the 50mm wheels of and put the training wheels on
Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012really enjoyed the100k ride nice mixing flats and hills.
dont like the brown stuff on my leg that can only be cow showtime
Re: Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012I did the metric century and finished 40 mins ahead of my target - average 30km/h rather than the 25km/h I thought I was capable of.
My previous longest ride was the Coot-tha challenge at 85k's so I'm progressing well Lots of sensible riding... nice warm sunny weather, seemed to be a nice day for everyone who participated. Thanks to the organisers and volunteers who made it happen
Re: Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012Finished my first 100 mile ride. Boy that was tough. Who said there are only a few hills, seriously. I started to cramp at the 150km mark but it was not that bad. Had to stop a few times to stretch my back. All up it was a great day and everyone rode really well.
I was hoping to complete the ride in under 6 hours, my time was 5:43. looking forward to next year. Waiting for the cows to be mustered was funny, Cheers. Merida Scultura Evo 909 Full Dura Ace (Weekender) & Merida HFS 904 Com Full Ultegra (Trainer)
When you feel yourself struggling up a hill, just get over it!
Re: Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012Good on you blokes!
Foo I don't suffer fools easily and so long as you have done your best, you should have no regrets.
Goal 6000km ![]()
Re: Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012Great day and ride apart from the cow poo on the road.
I did the 100k and managed to do it in just under the 4 hour point....average of 25.7 for me today...very happy with that I wanted to beat my time from last year and to try to get in under the 4 hours! Lisa
Re: Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012Congrats to all of you for finishing

Re: Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012I was really pissed off at the 'small man' B-Double truck driver (Rego: 04 BNF) who tailgated, hooted at and then passed within a few inches of (after quite deliberately swerving towards) my wife and I. She almost lost it emotionally and I was absolutely LIVID. We were single file on the 10cm wide 'verge' on Boonah Road with oncoming cars and a double line... I don't quite know what this ape thought we were supposed to do. Sorry, that's unfair to apes.
I contacted the police immediately as he did it to other cyclists up ahead. Add to this the MANY dangerous overtakes, mainly on Boonah Road by impatient drivers, makes me want to not bother next year. They need a police presence on that section, even of it is a patrol car/bikes going up and down keeping an eye on motorist behaviour... That would be enough I reckon. Not good enough. Not good enough at all. My bike is heavier than your bike.
Re: Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012Did the imperial and enjoyed it....it was tough indeed and some sections of head and cross wind didn't help but finished at 5:10m with an average of 32,6kph
Could've finish a bit earlier / quicker as I was with a group of about 15 and we had a good pace line going but at 95k my garmin played up and stopped to fix it which held me back for about 10-15 min and legged it on my own from there as no other groups went past apart from individuals or pairs as it looked like the hills were doing some damage already .... Well done to all that did the ride today
Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012
Want to give the imperial a crack next year.
Re: Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012Nice cruisy ride today doing the 50km today bar the idiot P plater in their commodore revving the engine with his mates sticking their heads out the window around the back of the Amberley RAAF base. Seriously, if I had mirrors to see them coming from behind i'd have been tempted to facepalm them as they went past. The lady that i'd introduced to the ride today was seriously not impressed. Thankfully losers like this only pop up occasionally and (hopefully) grow out of this type of behaviour. Can't wait till my riding accomplice picks up her new Trek Madone 5.2 cf bike so we can do some seriously speedy rides.
Re: Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012Well done to all those that completed the ride.
I've got to say I'm starting to think that Ipswich' best motoring talent was on display today. I thought things had improved out that way but alas not by the sounds of it. I'll be lining up for the Noosa 160. That there is a real nice ride. Once you can climb hills on a bike it's all downhill.
Hopefully I'll know what that's like..... one day. ![]()
Re: Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012Actually, this is the third time i've done this ride in 4 years and the only occasion that i've had any hoon/stupid behaviour on the roads out there. TBH every other road user i saw was polite and gave the riders a lot of room - although crossing the double lines seems a hobby out there. As i broke another spoke on Friday's commute, i slapped a spare wheel with a 13-19T cassette on it and found it a real hoot. Normal wheel carries a 11-21T but i didn't notice a massive amount of extra effort needed for the ride and had plenty left in the legs at the finish. I guess the extra commuting that i'm doing this year on the bike is starting to pay off!

Re: Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012Awesome day.
Assisted by winds my riding time was under 4 hours for the metric century and felt good all the way. Mostest fun is the sections Rosewood to Warril View and Roadvale to Peak Crossing. Tis always a pleasure riding through Harrisville but after Peak Crossing it is a bit of a drag. At Peak Crossing the sun was starting to bite so I had to ask one of the volunteers for some sunscreen. I met an old uni mate there and took lots of photos. My riding buddy wanted to ride back home to Goodna after the event, he was all revved up. In retrospect an air-conditioned Train would have been better for me Recent Favorite rides:
December -TUMBULGUM to TOMEWIN by some obscure route-can't wait to do it again !!!
Re: Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012
When's that? In fact where's the calendar of events? judged, insulted, gone

Re: Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012
Good job! I was aiming to beat 4 hours too, as this was my first 100km ride. Managed 26.5 avg in the end, but was going a fair bit faster til about the 65km point where I had to stop due to painful cramping. I got cramps again at the 90km mark and really had to cruise home as gently as possible. I was feeling great for the first couple of hours, so was very surprised when my legs locked up on me. I think in hindsight, I didn't eat enough before the ride and I hadn't done enough long rides to get my muscles used to the fatigue. My longest ride prior was Sunday last week were I did about 70 km of river loop and gateway loop. I thought the event was very well organised though. I'm looking forward to doing more of these things in the future. Litespeed Tuscany with SRAM Force and Open Pros - soon!
Re: Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012This was the first organised ride I have done after moving to Brisbane 6 months ago.I had an awesome day out
Have there been any pics of the ride put up anywhere ???
Re: Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012There will be photos posted on the Ipswich 100 site in a couple of days. The 2011 photos are still up on the site at the moment, but these will be replaced by the 2012 ones shortly.
Re: Ipswich 100 - 01st April 2012There are some photos from this year's ride up but not the 'offical' ones yet.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/49175087@N02/ I haven't found myself yet but did find Mr MM and our friends who rode the 170k's...there are some nice shots taken out by Moogerah. Edited to include the correct link Last edited by marinmomma on Tue Apr 03, 2012 9:00 pm, edited 1 time in total.
