Some interesting figures in this thread from WW Forum with the overall and trimmed (BB, Crank, chain and cassette removed, as serious WW chnage these anyway  ).

2012 Major gruppo weights

Some interesting differences considering prices !!

This is my bike. Not the lightest thing in the world. Weighs in at about 7.8kg without the peddles, saddle pouch, cages, etc.

The DT Swiss rims are pretty heavy, and when I get used to the bike more, I may look into some lighter wheels. But so far this bike suits me to a tea.

Well done. I am the same with my bike. It's my first and I cannot compare it to my 2011 Hybrid as its a different bike altogether, but the Focus is something else and has taken me a bit to get used to. But I love it and it rides fast.

i wonder if the rider has worked out why he keeps falling off the back of the seat?
The rider never fell off this seat - it's actually perfectly level, but the dip in the saddle is very pronounced so to get it level you have to have it so the front looks very high.

The saddle is a Tune Speedneedle - an image search will show it looks odd on most bikes! I use a Fizik Kurve Chameleon now.

Haven't weighed it yet but is certainly not 8.5kg, I would say closer to 7.7 - 7.9kg as is ....

Dr. Nate
8.6kg without pedals for this build at bicyclingaustralia.com.au. Not that it's very important though as long as the bike works the way it should.

Not the lightest either but will be with time. Comes in at 8.3 with lights, pedals and saddle bag.

Thanks for that. I bet it gets up and hauls. Does it climb well? Is it stable on descents?

That's exactly what the insurance company told me...and everyone else
Only problem is that i'll have to install a tow bar to suit the Thule hitch mount carrier.

I'm also designing an early warning system in my driveway. It consists of a sensor light that peers over the car to detect bikes on the roof and a red flood light. Maybe police lights and siren too 8)

Had some friends do the same thing. They now have 3 large reflective fluorescent signs on the rear garage wall saying check for bikes. Its the first thing you see when the door opens.
