Newcastle Police are hoping to track down the owner of a specially-modified tricycle, which has been found in Mayfield.

Senior Constable Tony Tamplin says the trike appears to have been adapted for an adult, possibly with a condition such as cerebral palsy.

He says it was handed in to police yesterday afternoon.

"It has specially adapted pedals, an additional body support built in behind the seat, as well as a specially adapted brake," he said.

"Now despite police doing all kinds of searches on the computer to see if someone had reported it missing or stolen, we can't find those reports.

"We're keen to find the owner to return it to them, it's probably a major part of their life."

That looks like a TAD modification. Technical Aids for the Disabled. They'd likely know who they modified it for.
