You can also join via nobmob.com - the login IDs are universal across the global-riders.net platform. Nobmob.com is a purely social group - no fees or dues - and you can then organise rides across Australia and other members who are local will tag along.
Don't be concerned that you're a "newbie" - just go straight ahead and organise the ride and state that you're looking for a guide if you're new to the trail in question, and most of the time someone will join the ride and show off their local trail.

Hi mate,
The perth mtb club is a good place to start, as mentioned above. They are very friendly and a welcoming bunch of people.
Another option is the Rockingham AvantiPlus ride on a Sunday morning in Jarrahdale, depending on how far you are willing to travel.
