I am trying to get a new group ride started, as there doesn't seem to any around here.
If there are , let me know, but I can't find any.

I have been riding with my buddy every Sunday for 3 years and we don't miss many.
We are more of a 2 man breakaway than a peloton.

Sunday's ride to Chelsea: http://app.strava.com/rides/7522694

I think there would be some interest, 45-50km on a Sunday, back before 9am so the rest of the day is free.
Some of our regular rides are: Tooradin, Olivers Hill, Mordialloc, Pearcedale. If we have more time Emerald is good.
When it gets closer to ATB time we have done 100km+ training rides to Longwarry, Kooe WeeRup etc.

I can't ride this weekend, so the next ride will be Sunday 13-May, then every week thereafter.

Hope to see a few more people join us if you can.

will definitely join you guys at some stage. I'm the opposite to you matt, I'm probably able to ride this weekend, but not the 13th. Will keep an eye on this thread and see what the go is on the 20th and/or the 27th.

If you guys ever want a change of scenery, and a 40 min drive, there are about 5 different bunches that go from Warragul every Sunday morning through some great scenery and quiet roads. Rides start at 7:00 and with the last bunch leaving at 8:15. Pace varies between 25kmh to 35kmh. some group can have up to 30 riders
I ride several bicycles, but not at once.

Sorry going to wimp out on this today , pouring here in Dandy and checking the radar doesn't look the best , not set up with wet weather gear ( light shell) and think the conditions would be a bit too much for me to try keep up.

What do you call a peloton of 1? A breakaway?

I rode alone, and in the weather and with Mothers day understandable. I had a cruisy ride to Tooradin Airfield, there was much character building as I fixed a puncture in the rain south of Tooradin...
It was a brisk 8 degree average, and a 10 minute stop for the tube was noticeable.

Surprisingly I didn't see any other cyclists this morning.

Hope next week will see the return of the clear weather.
Last year I almost missed my goal km for the year with low weekly totals in winter, so this year I just ride, unless it is full on raining when I leave.

If you head to cycling deal on Princes Hwy they have a great cycling jacket for $40 that works well to keep you warm & dry.

I am looking forward to seeing you next week.

Toppity - the rides around Warragul sound good, but I am on a toght schedule & need to be home by 9am Sunday for other commitments.

Maybe I can get a leave pass to ride with you.

Where do the Sunday rides start from?

Hi Matt, all the rides leave from Bikeland which is on Queens street near the main roundabout.

The first bunch goes at 7:00am which used to be a relatively easy ride of around 28-30km, however the pace of this has picked up and now averages in the low 30's. This ride was for those trying to get a few extra km's in. Usually around 15-20 people. This ride gets back by around 8:00am so the hardy can go out again.

The two main rides after that are 8:00am which is a race-pace 40-45km ride. They will wait, but not for too long. It's a hard ride. between 10-30 can be on this ride.

Then there is a ride at 8:15 that is a more moderate ride. About 35-40 km. Average is 28-30 and can have between 15-40 on it. This is a the ride I do.

There are slower rides that leave around 7:30 and 7:45 i think. These are for those how want some km's but don't want to go too hard. Even the 8:15 can get going at some points.

There is always a coffee on the go afterward although I rarely stay. I tend to ride from home near Bunyip, do the 8:15 and ride home. Usually home by 10:15am
I ride several bicycles, but not at once.

Sunday weather forecast looks good, hope to see a few people for a ride to Mordialloc.

45km, 60m elevation gain (i.e. very very flat)

Toppity, thanks for the details about Warragul rides, sounds like a good ride, I hope to get down there some time this year to try it out.

Well did the better half give you the nod to go for a ride tomorrow morning?

Weather permitting I would go except my body just cant handle it anymore, and if I came along and it was ridden at my pace, no one would get home before 10 am.

The weather and schedule have not been kind this week, the forecast for Sunday looks good (or good enough).

I will be riding on Sunday, all welcome. Will ride to Mordialloc or Tooradin, decide on the morning.

A good ride this morning, used a lot of quiet rides out the back of Langwarrin & Pearcedale. Not as flat as last week there were a few rolling hills, nothing major.

ride route - http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/ly ... langwarrin

I enjoyed meeting Oldnewby, and sharing some of my favorite roads.
I was feeling a bit average today, must be coming down with something, I had no power up the hills. Hopefully will be better next week.

I am riding on Sunday from Lynbrook, if you want a trip around the flatlands meet at 6:55am, Lynbrook shopping centre at Flaky Jakes.

I feel like a ride to Tooradin or Warneet this week...
Both are about 50 km and flat (less than 150m climb over the whole trip).

Hope to see a few there.
