I got clipped this morning by an old pensioner there was no way I was riding in the bike lane with all the parked cars.
He honked from behind I slowed down.
Then he clipped me while overtaking in a single lane road.
I caught him at the lights and he then opened his car door on me while parked.
For someone with a disabled car sticker he has alot of agro and little respect.
Where to now...
I also dont see the point of putting videos on youtube? just makes you even more of a target.

Anyone ride on the Northern Beaches in Sydney? If you do, and have for a while; you'll notice the increase in traffic around Mona Vale heading up the back way via McCarrs Creek Rd. This has been growing for some time and its usually well respected between the two (cyclist/motorist) but lately I’ve noticed a huge increase in abuse riding up that way early morning.

Today two guys kept beeping me while going around the bends at Bayview, fair enough I say, as i should just magically disappear into nothing to let them through (so nasty of me for not doing so..)

Than climbing up to Terrey hills, I again should be able to magically teleport to the top to allow fellow Ute driver past, but without my magically staff, I wasn’t able to and copped a mouth full of ciggie/swear words.

Apart from the bad ones, usually the rest aren’t to bad, but I've also noticed a lot of wild life dead on these roads in the past 3-6 months, which is sad, and we can all say "well there is tons of bush out there" but still it’s sad to see. I wonder if a letter to the Parks would go down well. I reckon put a payment booth at the start of McCarrs Creek road and one near Terrey hills, kind of like Bobbin Head?

End of rant.

I know, because i would have done the same. They did a sequence of moves- the first annoying, the second and third dangerous (possibly causing injury or worse). I think they need some sort of feedback.

Re: Videoing this sort of stuff: The video camera will give you evidence that lead to this motorist getting feedback, if the police take the action they should. Sticking videos on youtube wont do that (at best, it will let other cyclists see what can happen and imagine how they would avoid/deal with these sort of incidents. At worst, it will unleash a load of aggressive drivel in the comments section).

If you have that on video, I'd be sending the cops a copy with one of Oxford's reporting templates and a Statutory Declaration. There are several infractions there: using a horn unnecessarily, negligent driving, failure to stop and exchange insurance particulars after a collision. I count 7-8 points right there, and with opening the car door to cause a hazard I see close to $1k in fines.

However, if the guy was tailgating me I'd have *very slowly* come to a *complete stop* to force the pass.

I had a pensioner with a disabled parking permit honk at me this morning too! Green Falcon - but in Springwood Brisbane...
I'm guessing he wanted me to move left into the left turning lane 'cause he wanted to go straight... well tough luck old fella - I'm going straight ahead too...
I just turned and looked directly at his face and held my line until he passed using the second lane which was available to him the entire time.

Yes, but only on weekends. Don't ride there midweek. As big an issue in my opinion is people pulling out to pass cyclists on blind corners

What time is this? Might be time to invest in a rear-facing camera.

I reckon we have crossed paths many times haha, usually around 6am / 7am. I am def getting a camera soon, and ill be making a movie on morons LOL

Yep blind corners are the worst; and many on that route; countless times when I just watch and pray.. as if a car is coming around, its me who will end up dead.

what Gumby said but I would'nt expect to much interest from the cops unfortunately. Shame that compulsory licence retesting does'nt happen because that old fart would fail.

Coming home last night through North Ryde/Marsfield, waiting at my least favourite roundabout at Agincourt Rd/Balaclva Rd (outside Curzon Hall) to go straight across. A steady stream of cars coming down Balaclava Rd, and I am waiting patiently. Finally, one of the cars indicates left to turn off Balaclava Rd into Agincourt Rd. Seeing this is what he is doing, I enter the roundabout (before he does I should add), and as I am half way through he blasts his horn at me and yells out "can't you see I have my blinkers on you ******* d*****ead!".
So, apparently this guy can't tell left from right, or expects that any blinker will do, as long as it is on.
Anyway, never trust that an indication of the driver's intention is actually what they intend to do!

Gave me a bit of a start when they passed me. FWIW I was doing 27km/hr at that point.

I’m not to impressed with the traffic island there creating a pinch point.

Speed limit is 60km

I think that this guy was shooting up the left hand lane to get ahead of the following cars.

Yep, been there... in my case it was someone opposite me at traffic lights indicating right - I went to turn right, she stopped indicating and drove straight ahead

I was once driving behind a bloke who slowed down, moved right over to the centre line and indicated right to go into a bay of car parks. As i went around the left, he turned into me. At first he said he was indicating left then after witnesses agreed with me he admitted fault. I had only had my car 3 weeks, and it copped a fair bit of damage.

Not saying this driver was a moron she seemed quite caring in the aftermarth...

But I did witness a girl that got knocked off her bike tonight.
It was either a left cut turn or a right hand turn to a side street got the aftermath on video.
I had a feeling something had happened and if a car was not in the bike lane I would have seen what happened.
She was in shock and shaking I would say either wrists of legs damage.
I was going to go and chase the driver but they had stopped.
Her lights where functioning properly got her mobile number.
I was going to call the police... But by then there where quite a few people about.
There where two gashes in the car I would say from the pedals or the bike almost going under the car.
I should of called the police... Things happened so fast...

In Queensland if an Ambulance was called they (the ambo’s) would have contacted the Police.

Not as an admonishment +1 to "should have called the Police."

I'm seeing a lot of locals using bikelanes as extra smokebox lanes around my area lately.
Todays effort lasted about a km while I was giving the eldest a driving lesson, past a school at pick up time too.

Anyone getting married soon should consider getting quotes from Pam Slade Wedding Flowers and then telling them why they won't be going with it...

That would have made me jump too.

The bad thing about that lane merge is the road markings indicate that it is you that needs to yield to passing traffic. I'd have pulled right a somewhat earlier to own the lane.

to the not so nice driver of the white van at 6am this morning along oxley road: shaving me is not necessary when there are 2 lanes and no-one is in the other lane.

There is lots of aggression from motorists on Oxley Road before 7:30 am, and little congestion to slow them down. After 7:30 am, there is a mix of absent mindedness and congestion-stressed motorists, but they are going slower (or crawling along) due to congestion, so you have more time to react.

I ride mid-lane in the 2 lane sections on this road.

I was riding mid lane at the time (have had a few issues before along Oxley road). Spent too much on the bike lately, can't ask the minister for war and finance to approve a camera at the moment...
