it took 10 days from order placement to shipping, then another 14 days for it to arrive. Pretty slow I thought - you pay more at Wiggle but you get it a lot quicker.

We should be glad we don't live in the US - they get hit with these sort of fees all the time. It's why the online retailers post disclaimers on their websites about the buyer being responsible for all charges.

The Como is tested in excess of your weight without issue.Big_Red wrote:Being 110kg + a light wheel won't cut it for me and as the Pro-Lite Como wheelset is 20H front/24H rear i'd probably break spokes or destroy it in short order. Pro-Lite don't do high spoke count wheels afaik.
At 110kg no road wheel is going to last you forever, you might be surprised though for what is a relatively cost effective wheelset.

Hence I photo all packages that I get as customs put their tape on it and a leaflet inside if it has been opened. If I was to get that I'll be emailing photos back and telling em to sod off.Rex wrote:Got a bill from DHL yesterday asking for $47 as an order from Evans Cycles went through Quarantine etc and they have passed this cost on to me.

+100x. They would not have released the goods if they were on solid ground. Quarantine costs are their problem, not yours.Oxford wrote:its a scam, do a forum search and internet search to find out more.Rex wrote:Got a bill from DHL yesterday asking for $47 as an order from Evans Cycles went through Quarantine etc and they have passed this cost on to me.

I had one of those bills a year ago because I ordered tyres (wirebead= full size box) & quarantine thought they were used & therefore could have dirt on them.Rex wrote:Got a bill from DHL yesterday asking for $47 as an order from Evans Cycles went through Quarantine etc and they have passed this cost on to me.

I ignored the bill as it was a servjce that I did not request or authorise. It went away. If you read the bill it is from the courier for their expences and not the government. Dont pay it!
To avoid further bills request the sender write " new and unused merchandise" on the outside of package.

I'd far rather buy a wheelset from a builder in Australia than overseas if i could. Seen the vids with the wheelbuilding and quite impressed at the speedjacks1071 wrote:The Como is tested in excess of your weight without issue.Big_Red wrote:Being 110kg + a light wheel won't cut it for me and as the Pro-Lite Como wheelset is 20H front/24H rear i'd probably break spokes or destroy it in short order. that these are churned out. I'm not expecting a wheel to last forever, even just 10,000 km would be good... The Como is cheap enough that i could buy
it to test it out, although it wouldn't be NDT. Just a pity higher spoke count wheels aren't done to assure they'll take the punishment. The more
riding i get to do, the less i need the wheels to be so heavy as i lose the weight.

It was about 1-2kg but I don't think weight has anything to do with this.jasonc wrote: was it less than 1k? if so, don't pay. ask for evidence
Oh it was definitely opened and inspected by customs, I remember getting the leaflet etc.Baalzamon wrote: Hence I photo all packages that I get as customs put their tape on it and a leaflet inside if it has been opened. If I was to get that I'll be emailing photos back and telling em to sod off
This is my thoughts exactly. I did not request or authorise the inspection so the charge should not be forwarded to me.simmo71 wrote: I ignored the bill as it was a servjce that I did not request or authorise. It went away. Yeah went to the post office. Was sitting there. Went there last week and they said it wasn't. She didn't look in the spot it was sitting in today.
Hard to blame the online store. No note in mailbox.

I had a wheelset go through quarantine (there was a pamphlet left in the package) and no charge was made. DHL wasn't the delivery company though.Rex wrote:Got a bill from DHL yesterday asking for $47 as an order from Evans Cycles went through Quarantine etc and they have passed this cost on to me.

I had 2 orders DHL at the start of the year which were 4 dayers but the last 2 have come from NSW and have taken double the time.

Dakine Drafter back pack and DMR v12 pedals. It took 7 days from order date, unchecked priority dispatch.
Return postage was to Sunshine VIC.
Very happy.
