Re: Canyon Can't / Won't ship to Australia???The Canyons look cool. My latest contact with Canyon (last night):
thanks for your mail and your interest in our bikes. Due to warranty and liability reasons we´re not allowed to ship to Australia and America at the moment. Our advocates are working to find a solution with our terms and conditions so enable shipments to both countries. Please tell us about your full address details so we´ll add you to our newsletter to keep in touch with you. We´ll tell you as soon as we are allowed to ship to America and Australia. back to waiting ... RustyNail
Re: Canyon Can't / Won't ship to Australia???Thought I'd leave a note regarding getting hold of a Canyon bike here...
I just received a Canyon Ultimate CF frame today. I set up an account with a German package forwarding company, gave Canyon their address, then they forwarded on the frame via DHL. Sending to an address within the EU meant I had to pay German GST, but fortunately I wasn't hit with Aussie GST when the frame went through customs. The delivery costs only came to 110 Euros - 15 euros from Canyon to the package forwarding firm & 95 EUROS from parcel forwarding firm to me. This is much less than the 269 EUROS Canyon charge to deliver to New Zealand. I got the frame half price too as there were some specials on during the tour...bargain! It took about 3 weeks from placing order to receive the frame. If anyone else is considering doing something similar, the package forwarding firm is http://www.addressgermany.com/
Re: Canyon Can't / Won't ship to Australia???Nice work. Their prices are very nice if you can manage to get VAT off (which you can't if it gets shipped inside the EU). Postage to NZ for a full bike is over AUD600!!!!
Freight forwarding might be an option. Heck even if you pay VAT and GST it's still a good buy. Not that I need a new bike. ![]()
Re: Canyon Can't / Won't ship to Australia???Canyon still aren't shipping to Australia.
Anyone tried alty's parcel forwarding service since?
Re: Canyon Can't / Won't ship to Australia???You're kidding, 2 YEARS and it still isn't sorted?

Re: Canyon Can't / Won't ship to Australia???It's not a lucative market in Australia and they have definately missed the opportunity with the Cadel Evans association. That said, they rate very well and I assume Canyon are building up the brand in Europe though have some contacts so can ask if there is genuine interest.

Re: Canyon Can't / Won't ship to Australia???Thread dig again. Still not shipping to AUS OR the US. Surely they want in to the US market??? I did notice they ship to east timor.... put the bike on a boat?
Re: Canyon Can't / Won't ship to Australia???Canyon's sales and marketing department defy logic. I attempted to purchase a canyon mountain bike last year. I wanted to buy the bike for delivery to an address in the UK thus paying the UK price which included VAT. As I didn't have a UK bank account I couldn't pay for the bike with an Australian credit card as their website did not provide the option of providing a delivery address which was different to the credit card billing address. I contacted Canyon explaining this dilemma and they suggested paying by direct bank transfer to their bank account in Germany. OK no problem however the ANZ only provided 2 currency options to a German account, euros or Aussie dollars. The price was specified in pounds sterling. So I asked Canyon UK what the appropriate sum would be in euros so I could transfer the correct amount. Oh no - as you're buying a bike for delivery to the UK you have to transfer the sum in pounds sterling. At this point I gave up.
I guess some companies just don't want your business!!
Re: Canyon Can't / Won't ship to Australia???Plenty of other brands bikes available that provide equal or beter value than Canyon, just buy one of them.
Re: Canyon Can't / Won't ship to Australia???Yeah, I was more intrigued by the ridiculousness of it. Perfectly highlighted by the story above!
Re: Canyon Can't / Won't ship to Australia???The Australian market is just too small and there is too much effort. If they were to do anything in Australia it should have been during the Cadel Evans Lotto days but now they are becoming relatively unknown again. I think they are following a natural approach looking after their current markets and concentrating on where they get the best returns.

Re: Canyon Can't / Won't ship to Australia???
What Chris said. I honestly got the impression (from talking to Canyon a while back) that they couldn't be bothered sending 1 or 2 bikes a year to Aus. I always thought someone in Aus held the distribution rights to Canyon. S-Works Venge
Re: Canyon Can't / Won't ship to Australia???Yet they used to ship to NZ (until recently I believe), an even smaller market.

Re: Canyon Can't / Won't ship to Australia???
But they ship to East Timor. Surely that would be more of an effort than to Australia. Their loss, I guess as I'd be very keen to get my hands on one. Cervelo S2
Re: Canyon Can't / Won't ship to Australia???If they are shipping to specific small countries my guess would be is that there is a German national there who knows the brand and will look after them in that region (I am not joking). When I spoke to Canyon, just after Cadel stopped riding with them they said it was legal stuff - which is specifically also about warranty and logistics of getting iyt all sorted out. With a local agent they have a go-to man.
Sure there are plenty of Germans in Australia, but also a number of other bike brands from Germany that are just as interesting. BNA Feature: E-Bike Buyers Guide App on Now iTunes
Re: Canyon Can't / Won't ship to Australia???
Yes, but then they would have dealer costs... not how their model works. I seem to recall it was only a problem with the warranty as the reason they wouldn't ship to Oz etc. It is a shame as they make lovely bikes at really good prices. Once my good warranty run runs out I think I will grab one... especially with their crash replacement scheme
Re: Canyon Can't / Won't ship to Australia???I'm a newb looking for a road bike, the only problem is that i'm 6'8" and I haven't really had a bike that fit me since I was a kid. In my web searches Rose and Canyon keep popping up, everyone says great things about the build quality and bang for buck - except neither of them ship to these parts.
Outside of visiting Germany and sending one back (which is actually a possibility), what should I do? I'm not an enthusiast, not yet at least - I want to buy something off the rack, with a warranty. I've visited some shops, but I get the impression that they are just trying to fit me onto the biggest model of whatever they carry - so far that's a 62, and despite sloping top tube measurements and long seat posts, I don't think that is gonna cut it.
Re: Canyon Can't / Won't ship to Australia???
Disagree, price/quality Canyon is extremely hard to beat. It is to bad they don't ship to Oz else I would for sure have done it. Maybe I will order one by using the address of friend in Europe. Which brand is beter value then Canyon?
Re: Canyon Can't / Won't ship to Australia???
There's a company in Germany that will act on your behalf. You put them down as the postal address, Canyon ship to them and then they then ship it to you. There's a thread on here from a few years ago who used it. Search for Canyon on here. If not I have the details at work. I've never used it though. I think you have to pay the VAT though as it is deemed a purchase within the EU. not sure if you can claim that back once it lands in Australia though. Cervelo S2
Re: Canyon Can't / Won't ship to Australia???Cheers for that, I'll see what their rates are like.
