that was infuriating!!!! I stayed up to watch the descent to the line, thought it would be a cracker, came back from the loo and there's the idiot savant going through the stage results with Sundo. Effing annoying.

I always feel bad giving SBS crap because for so long they were the only ones giving us any cycling coverage but......... I actually haven't seen any SBS coverage other than the highlights package they put on there website ( i don't have T.V. reception at the moment). I was hoping to use the live stream, but they haven't supplied one (though they had it for the ToC which was a boring race anyway). I found out during the Classics that they definition of live coverage only applied to the eastern States, and that all these years what i thought i was watching live was actually half hour delayed. SBS can do a fantastic Job, but recently (and i don't know if this is because they are trying to deliver more content) i have found there productions bellow par. Not showing the end of a stage is just ridiculous people stay up all night (well some of us do some record) and then just as you get to the actual important part they drop coverage give you the results and thats it? What was so pressing that SBS Two could stand to lose time too ?

is this an adelaide thing? i stayed up last night in Melb to watch it and all seemed OK with a continuous live broadcast.

Could possibly have been.

There was a sudden commercial break without the normal fade-out commentary and then on the return it was the wrap up. Very, very annoying at 1am. Maybe some clown flicked a switch from 'Delay Adelaide 1/2 hour' to 'Live in Adelaide'. Hope it doesn't happen again. Everyone makes mistake I guess.

Couple of big nights coming up. Time to put ya you know what on the block and pick it.

Basso- Has the best endurance and team and he will need it over the next 2 days. I reckon he is least likely to crack and so will win.

Post up your picks before tonight and let the battle ensue. :D

Looking forward to the next 2 nights, probably won't watch Sunday as I need some sleep before work.

I would like to see Rodriguez win, but his time trialling is likely to let him down. I would have to say Hejadal (spelling??) is looking like the winner to me. If he doesn't crack up the hills he should win. That is a bit of a big "if" but he looks like he's going well on the hills at the moment. At the moment I just can't see Basso burning them all off up the mountains.

My dilemma is - do I watch one night fully (Fri or Sat), and then watch the key bits on the recording ?

The ITT is not a question, as I need to work as well.

I may give tonight the try, and see how I go. Looking fwd to either.

Go Ryder - I'd love to see him win, or at the very least podium.

Basso has been playing it low for the last week now i think we will see some fireworks tonight from him, but really i think he is waiting for tomorrow nights stage. Dangerous tactic with Ryder look ok on the climbs so far but the Stelvio is a completely different beast to anything we have seen so far. Going to be great racing i reckon.

Reckon David has covered the field. Wouldn't mind RH but that's one killer climb.

Rodriguez and Basso are reported as raising the white flag and that they are resigned to fighting over the other spots on the podium.

Is it too late to jump on the Hesjedal train ?

i expect basso and purito to hastily lower the white flag halfway up the stelvio this evening and raise the skull and crossbones. this ain't over. hesjedal looks really good but he must have kept something in reserve for tonight - you can't fire all your bullets too early.

Caruso has been very impressive in the service of Basso. To me he resembles Di Luca somewhat, but I won't hold that against him :P

Brilliant stage and well worth staying up for.

I'm hoping like hell that Ryder can do it. Van de velde's efforts were brilliant as was Stetina.

Yay for canucks !!!!

Had Foxtel tapping it, but watched until 58 klms to go and the eyes were getting pretty heavy, although I knew the steepest grade was about to come, decided to turn the tv off, got up this morning to continue watching, bloody recording failed!!

I've had failed recording left and right lately, very annoying. I've tried all sorts of resets to no avail!

Made it home in time for the last 6kms. Damn that was hard work. My money's on Ryder H now.

Awesome result!! Anyone pick that final podium? A huge final two days for De Gendt too. It seems a cleaner peleton is making for closer racing.

Brilliant overall outcome. DeGendts ride on Stelvio was amazing, and backed it up in the TT too.

Interesting to see some of the bigger teams outshone by the smaller outfits.

Great last couple of mountain stages, and makes me want to climb Stelvio even more now

Further to my previous link to a joke article about Radio Luxembourg, it appears there may be some truth behind it.

What a great Giro. Canadia finally wins something and De Gent was awesome. :D
