Painting / Powdercoating.

So I'm in the process of converting an old repco road bike into a fixed gear.
Need to get the frame and forks sorted out.
Whats the cheapest option in Sydney?

And what else do I need to to to prepare the frame for the painting, have read that bottom bracket can either stay out or in and same with the headset. Will be reusing the BB and Headset so don't want them to be trashed during the powder coat or paint job.

Cheapest option is rattle can from Supercheap. Mask the BB and headset.

If you want to get someone else to do it then powdercoat is the cheapest option. But you'll have to remove the BB and headset beforehand to get the best result. It'll make the soda blasting easier too. And then get the BB and headtube chased/faced afterwards...

What he said. In terms of cash, use paint stripper and/or sandpaper to get it back to bare metal and then painting it with rattlecans is cheapest. BUT you need to take into account the amount of time it takes to strip it and get it clean enough to get a decent finish, it comes down to how much time you have and what you think it is worth. I'm getting frames sandblasted and a primer powdercoat for $33, cheaper than the several painful hours it would take me.

To get it powdercoated you will need to remove the BB and headset (which is fairly straight forward so no biggie), powdercoat is a very tough finish so it's a good option IMO.

Thanks guys, tried the spray paint idea a while ago, took along time and ended up looking like crap anyway and chipped really easily i possibly didnt do it properly. WIll pull the headset and BB out now then and try and find somewhere in sydney to get it done

Make sure to ring around for prices, i just got a frame blasted and powdercoated for $60, but i've heard some people have been quoted up to $280.
