Liberty Seguros team masseur has stated under oath that he personally saw

According to a Spanish newspaper, a former masseur of the Liberty Seguros team has stated under oath that he personally saw Alberto Contador being injected with insulin, a forbidden substance, during the 2005 Tour de France. The source, who has remained anonymous, made the allegations on May 11, 2011, in front of representatives of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA),
I dont believe he was seeking fame, he didnt go to a news paper. He gave testimony under oath i don't believe he was seeking any attention for this. As TLL said nothing surprising.

No he didn't go to the newspaper
The newspaper just headlined an old story (sales must have been down)... and it's just another
case of "unnamed person" informes, as in the German/Plasticiser farse.
If you had read the Interviu Newspaper article....
The former employee of Liberty was going to testify in Switzerland on condition of anonymity,
but managed to avoid lawyers counter, as shown in the summary of the case.
The Court may have noticed that the witness referred to the infamous Dr. Fuentes, star of the 'Operation Puerto'.
Contador "Denies the allegations of the unnamed witness that he was involved in a doping plan
or to put on insulin shots ...
The accused has already been subject to an extensive investigation in 2006,
and in August of that year he was cleared from any implication whatsoever by the Spanish courts
and by the International Cycling Union
As stated, The former employee of Liberty was going to testify in Switzerland
on condition of anonymity, but managed to avoid lawyers counter,
as shown in the summary of the CAS case.
So just a re-hash of 'Operation Puerto'
As TTL said nothing surprising... nothing to see here, folks. Time to move on.
Cheers

Meh, ignore is a wonderful function.

He's been done, and is doing the time. I just hope that Riis doesn't win the case about the no points for 2 years from doped riders, but we'll see.

It appears that the UCI points table still includes Valverdes points at the moment - or am I wrong ? As of 22nd Apr, he's 9th on the list with 167 points, and 12th in Teams with 205 points. In fact Piti has earned 81.5% of the teams points to date .... :|

Someone was digging for attention, in rehashing this one...
"Journo" at Interviu Newspaper, the half-ashed rehash at Cycling News (unsigned and no wonder),
or possibly even Jules21 (even bringing it up)

The actual, original statement, from from the "anonymous" source,
was, supposedly "....that insulin was part of the treatment for all of the riders."
There was an extensive investigation in 2006, and Contador was cleared.
Where's the new news there? :P

Rehashing because its reopened maybe , from memory Contador wasn't cleared the case was closed due to the fact that what Fuentes was doing (selling and administering) wasn't illegal
Contador maybe needing to give his lawyer a call

What a stretch that bags filled with blood marked AC were found in the possession of a Doping Dr. that was meeting Contadors DS at the time with a suitcase of money and now a witness comes forward saying he witnessed Contador Doping ?

pfft. it was all a big misunderstanding. contador was just getting some treatment for a persistent cold from dr fuentes, how was he to know that the guy was running a major doping operation? and all those other guys on Liberty Seguros who were doped to the gills - they sure hoodwinked ol' Bertie, who had no idea of what they were upto and took no part in any of it. he just wants to ride his bike! people are spreading vicious, unfair rumours

Well there was a strong possibility of this coming up soon, his out of the blue comment about not fighting any more allegations strongly hinted something was coming up. Also as has been mentioned on other forums its almost July we all know that before the Tour there has to be a doping scandal

Surprised no one has beaten me to it but......

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/report- ... -armstrong

and

http://www.sbs.com.au/cyclingcentral/ne ... -testimony

If this turns out to be true then Lance is sunk, Landis/Hamilton he could accuse of jealousy but Hincapie is the kicker. One thing i will say is that the True Believers will continue to believe and fair enough, but I think that in the long run this is good for the sport. Sends a message to the current riders and the ones coming through that no ones to big to be brought down and if you dope and get caught that's it.

On the SBS TDF coverage they have interviewed Vaughters and Hincapie, both essentially deny the report.

If only this was true but methinks that the general media will use it as a way of tainting the sport overall. If nothing else, it'll take some heat off the footy players, not to mention the extra ammo for the road clowns "Got orfa moi road druggie, yew doan pay rego."
...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.

I can"t point it out there, instead I saw it on the SBS TDF coverage and they were asked about the report from the Dutch Newspaper. You can also read the other thread in General on Armstrong USADA which also coverage this and the cyclist / ex-cyclist reactions.

It is one of those "what I say" versus "what I mean" type comments. What they really mean is that "we wish to publish allegations against Wiggins, but we don't want to be sued for defamation"
