Hey All,
Currently riding from Oakleigh to Melbourne primarily on Gardiners Creek trail and Main yarra Trail. Looking for some suggestions for extending my morning or afternoon commute. Guessing somewhere around the trails close to the city would be good but happy to hear if anyone has any ideas Currently ride is around 19.8 km happy to go up to maybe 30.

Ben, you could head north along the Outer City Rail Trail then in by the Main Yarra Trail.
A western variation is to go through Caulfield, Inkerman St or similar to St Kilda, Beach Rd then follow the Pt Melbourne light rail into town.

Was also just looking at a bit of a loop around Fishermans Bend and Port Melbourne and back into the city may try it out one afternoon if I can leave early

Yep, down Lorimer St. You could even hoon around some of the MTB trails there in the park, or in summer catch the punt across to Newport.
You can tell I also enjoy a good diversion!

When I want to do extra kms I ride down Warrigal Rd to Mordy then up to St Kilda, along to Port Melb and then do laps of Port Melb. I have a 9 km loop, 11km and 13 km loop in Port Melb depending on time and how I feel. I must admit I have also been known to stop for breakfast at the Salford Boys Club cafe!

How do the cars treat you on Warrigal Road? East Boundary Rd has got stretches of very wide bike lane if you wanted an alternative.gabrielle260 wrote:When I want to do extra kms I ride down Warrigal Rd to Mordy then up to St Kilda, along to Port Melb

The cars are fine on Warrigal Rd if you are early enough. In fact I am more concerned by the cars on Beach Rd around St Kilda around the time I come through.
I aim to start riding by 5.45am - any later and I take another route. Often, in that case, I ride the bike path to Docklands and then do laps of Port Melb.
