This thread is a bit of a stab in the dark and is motivated by my own agenda, but hopefully it takes off and becomes popular and helpfull to other people as well.
There are a lot of people out there who are well established tinkerers, and a few who are just getting started. The cost of only-needed-once tools can quickly add up to more than the rest of your project. Maybe you only need a 2 prong Suntour freewheel remover, or maybe you're after the loan of a frame jig. Who knows, try your luck and ask here. There may be someone in the next suburb who has just what you need and is happy to help.
Don't forget to say 'Thank you!' with coffee or cupcakes.
If you like to help out, watch this space and if you don't want to advertise your tools publicly you can always pm the borrower.
Mods, please feel free to modify this thread to make it more functional.

Hi BNA,
I am currently working on two restoration projects that I picked up from ebay for cheap. Details are here.
I am wondering if anybody nearby has any of the following they would be happy to lend:
- Suntour 2 prong freewheel remover
- Shimano freewheel remover
- Square-tapered crank remover
I am located in Brisbane, St Lucia but am happy to travel to a nearby suburb.
Regards,
Slarv

Thank you master6! Fig Tree Pocket is certainly close enough.
I am more than happy for this thread to be hijacked by other people looking for a particular tool to borrow.

Any Sydney locals with a Shimano 600 wavy headset spanner? My LBS owner is away, and the other guys dont know if they have the tool stashed someplace (its not on the wall).
