Please please please tell me you're not surprised at this? I've been published quite a bit over the years but never the bits commenting on poor journalism, regardless of the validity
nah, it's par for the course as you say. I've never had a comment like it published, and it wasn't my aim. But I'm happy to be surprised. It was more to send a message to the journo to lift their game. The comments sections are only there to raise the temperature of the conflict -> draw more eyes to the page -> improve their hit count -> maintain or improve their ability to charge advertising rates.

I got a laugh out of Birdbrain's comment, really, that was the best he could come up with? You must be quaking in your boots womble, curled up in the corner sucking your thumb .

Couldn't decide which to use though. I'm right handed but my left thumb is better looking, so I'm sucking both and punching the keyboard with my nose. If he distances himself from the Premier we're all doomed. DOOMED!

...And proceeds to direct threats to the SCA Twitter account - @CityBastron btw - all whilst delivering valuable cargo, acting as Presifent of the IDA and liasing/preparing reports and federal funding submissions and giving interviews to the local rags. I feel so insignificant

He does all that on top of his 60 odd hours a week delivering parcels?
And he thinks cyclists are a menace?
Anybody got a fatigue management handbook they can send him?

Don't send that to 'im Dave, he'd throw it out the window at some poor GC commuter and claim self defence 'cos that big meany fellow truck driver from Brissy said "Is not" to to him.

I remember Ron Nightingale! Oh, yes, I had a few dealings with him when I lived and worked in Brisbane. Oh, yes!

Mr Nightingale and Co have failed to address the fundamental issues that affect all cyclists and that is the behaviour of their so called professional drivers. I see on a daily basis disgusting behaviour, uncourteous driving, dangerous driving, and the blatant flaunting of road rules by the so called professional drivers in sometimes unroadworthy vehicles that put other peoples lives at risk. The people whose road behaviour should be exemplary. In all manner of vehicles from courier vans through to semi trailers, and road trains in certain parts. It's always easy to blame the vulnerable, even bullyish, but to come up with reasonable workable solutions that impact positively and fairly upon all road users takes a little more intelligence, such as solutions offered in overseas countries. Unfortunately this mob does not have the necessary qualifications, nor experience to formulate such strategies. And therefore this country will always lag decades behind worlds best practice in road building, design, driver licensing, and law enforcement.

Sorry, professional confidentialities and all that. But I can say my opinion of the gentleman was not terribly high.

Well that proves you're better than Ron right there. I'll still let him know he can count on yours and Michael Schumacker's support regardless. I'm sure Fritz drove a Rainbow Couriers van before his talent was discovered.
