Show 'n' shine at Pushies Galore 2012

Postby gbannerman » Thu Apr 26, 2012 8:11 pm

We have created a "Made in BNE" section of the show 'n' shine at Pushies Galore this year. We're encouraging anyone with Brisbane-made frames (eg. Tom Wallaces, Llewellyns, Frezonis, Berrettos, Rockets etc etc) to bring them along - road, fixed, crusiers, the lot. There may be a few grey geographical areas - eg Soren Son - but that's probably the furthest stretch. It'll be on 15 July. Registration will still be pretty informal, but endeavouring to get as many people registered before the day.

I should have my Tom Wallace ready by then, and i can bring along my unrestored Ashby. Hopefully i can make it, i've seen a video of last year's event and it looked like fun.

Great

I'll bring my Soren Son :D - pity that it'll probably still be a frame  .
It would not be at all strange if history came to the conclusion that the perfection of the bicycle was the greatest achievement of the nineteenth century.

Putting a 'Local' together for Pushies. These bikes were made in South Brisbane by R. Todd, would anyone else have any information about them?

We were tossing up MTB (or cyclocross/knobbly tyre category). Based on feedback from last year, we didn't think we'd get enough a critical mass to get an interesting competition. Happy to be proved wrong though.

No real info on Local but I remember visiting the shop quite a lot in the late 70s-early 80s. The place was always a complete mess but I'm sure Roy? knew where to find everything.
He was my source of double butted chome spokes. These were cheaper than stainless steel. For his window display, he had an old Wilkie track bike. Orange, I think. Co-incidence you mentioning Local as I was just telling the guys I ride with about the shop as we rode past where it used to be last weekend on the way in to the start of the Brisbane - Ipswich ride.

Hi Hamster, I've been looking for a Spezzotto for some time. Would yours happen to have a seat tube of around 60cm?
Thanks, LOSB.

is it only BNE 'made' bikes in the show and shine ? would be good to see any old bike that people would like to 'show' / but differentiate the bne bikes (important as they are)
