Padded knicks from Aldis.
Postby tinstaafl » Thu Feb 01, 2007 1:49 pm
I just bought a couple of pairs of cheap padded knicks from Aldis and boy are they cheap.
I recommend that you don't go anywhere near 'em.
I thought that I could cut the pads out and put them in better shorts but even the pads look like rubbish.
I am returning mine tomorrow and I hope to save anyone here the same problem.
See ya
Robert

Did those knicks really have a centre seam under the chamois?

They do but just on the outside. The chamois is thinish but smooth on the inside. I think it's perfectly fine if you don't sit on your saddle all the time.Mulger bill wrote:Did those knicks really have a centre seam under the chamois?

I wanted a pair of gloves and all that was left were two empty packets, which I assumed were stolen. I was almost prepared to be late for work just so I could get a pair. Anyone get them?
All the knicks, jerseys and wind trainers were gone, and there were 2 pairs of padded undies left. No one touched the gel seat covers or the bike stands though.

The gel cover wasn't popular at Leichhardt either. It's so heavy!
As for the jersey, I thought the material and construction was even worse than the knicks.

Yeh, I put the jersey back as I didn't like the construction. I did like the design in blue.sogood wrote:As for the jersey, I thought the material and construction was even worse than the knicks.

You guys saved me a lot of heart ache and $$$. I was about to go get a pair of knicks and possibly jersey, but was called away for work (luckily as it seems).
Has anyone bought or tried the padded undies? By the sounds of things maybe you're suppose to wear the undies with the knicks?
A pair of good padded undies though wouldn't go astray in an emergency (ie when you haven't had a chance to do the washing)

I could have a look in Sunbury again. PM me with size/colour preference if you're still interested, but they didn't look or feel like much value.commi wrote:

Yeah, I reckon that that would be the only way that it'd work for anyone other than brass monkeys.commi wrote:I think the idea is that you're supposed to wear the padded undies with the knicks, AND use the padded seat cover.Mr888 wrote:By the sounds of things maybe you're suppose to wear the undies with the knicks?

Conclusions;
1. Poor quality
2. Generous sizing, if you are between sizes, go smaller
3. I'm estimating a short life

My only experience to date with really cheap knicks has been a pair of, supposedly, Nalini's that I bought on eBay and they've only been worn once (and that was enough).

I've been wanting to get a pair of uno knicks. Know where I can get them at a discount price ?peterrjleach wrote:It's off topic, and a plug, but .... I've been wearing the Supremo Ghia from Uno for the last few weeks. They're a bit long in the leg to be perfect, but they're very comfortable. The 'Ghia' is the one with the orange chamois, which is a lot better than the blue one in the 'club' and 'pro peleton' ranges.
