Brissie to the Bay anyone?

Postby Brenchen » Fri Jun 01, 2012 4:10 pm

Hi guys,

I've registered to ride the 100km route for Brissie to the Bay. Initially it was two friends and I were going to do it together, but one has dropped out (due to last minute work call) and the other is still pending (not sure if he will come or not).

I enjoy riding with friends/group, but essentially, I'm the only one left doing the ride (alone).

So I would like to ask, is anyone interested to have me riding/training along with you  ? Here's a bit about myself, I'm
  • Male, in my mid 20s
  • Quite new to riding, though I do ride regularly (6~7 days a week if no rain)
  • Did couple of mountain runs, climbing at about 10km/h (Mt. Cootha & Nebo)
  • On flats if I push myself I can get to about 30~35km/h
  • Comfortable riding (flats) 25~30km/h
Please PM me if I'm welcomed, or otherwise let me know are there any alternatives?

Cheers!
Brendan

I hope to see you on the ride.

I'll be riding alone again this year. I enjoy the 100km ride and treat it as a lead up to the Ride To Conquer Cancer. This will be my fourth year of Brissie To Bay. They're a great bunch and you'll find if you start chatting, almost everyone on the ride will enter into a conversation with you, helping you enjoy the ride.

I'll be wearing a Fitzroy Island team jersey. Say hi if you see me :D

Thanks for dropping by! Good to hear a reply on my lonely thread lol. I would love to participate in RTCC, as cancer fundraising events are more meaningful to me. Unfortunately, I won't be in the country during August, so I'll just have to miss out.

Anyway, will keep in touch, see you at the ride!

If you're looking for people to train with are you on the north or south side?

I'm spending most of my time at Mt Gravatt doing repeats at the moment if that suits?

I'm very unexperienced, but some repeats will be good. I'm on the North side, but happy to drive down or ride down to South.

I'm in the same boat too. I'll be there for the 100km by myself. I'll most likely be wearing a Brissie to the Bay jersey with black leg/arm warmers riding a Merida 904. Best way to find me would be to look for the tall lanky guy with a stash of powerade bottles in the back of the jersey. If you see me or wanna meet up feel free to say hi! :)

I'd expect traffic management to be a little painful around the event, so if it was me I'd park near the Storey Bridge, then ride to start loc along the river path. Pretty much guaranteed to get a spot down there.

My wife and i are doing the 50km. She'll be on a Red Giant OCR Zero, butchered with MTB flats and a MTB padded seat! I'll be the guy on the XL EMC2 pedalling along slowly with her for moral support.

Hi everyone

I am doing for the firs time this year with my two kids... one 30 and one 14 they have both have just got their first road bike. So this is going to be an experience I shall never forget. Don't do much city riding so I will be going carefully.. country roads are for me.

We are doing the 50k I will have my rtcc shirt from last year on with a white vest and my tyres are pink on a specialized dolce (white & grey) my son will be wearing a green edge kit I got him on a black white and red specialized scetture and my daugther on a new giant advance defy 2 black and white... so if you see us give us a bit of encouragement. My daughter will be in pink shirt and vest.

Anyway please be patient with us if you see us.

Have a safe ride everyone.. and enjoy the experience.

Cheers

Elizabeth

I'll have my GoPro camera in my helmet recording and /or taking photos. So wave if you see me :-) I'll have a white jersey with Fitzroy Island and Crocosaurus Cove logos on (if they get finished in time).

OK, I've decided to wear my Victor Cycles jersey (blue background with orange text). I am most likely alone, after the two mates that signed up with me have both dropped out.

I'll be riding my blue Merida Reacto, happy to join in someone's group on the day, say hi if you see me :)! All so excited for tomorrow!!!

I hope everyone got through safe. It was a great ride. There were some casualties that had to be taken to hospital I believe.
