One less person for our Cadel to worry bout, should be a good battle with Wiggins. Though I thing BMC team need to train harder at staying with Cadel right till the line, he can't afford to be isolated at the end in the TDF like he was last week.

Fights with Bruyneel notwithstanding, he's got a fractured pelvis.

Drat, wanted 214km on Sat doing Audax Dawn 2 dusk Anniversary ride. Instead who I was riding with decided to get a sore hamstring and bail on the ride and call for help. I wasn't about to let him stay by himself on the side of the road 1.5hrs out from help, so I bailed as well and summoned a lift to come get me. But I taught them something, how to set boom length up on a trike. I suspect they have got an over extension injury as the boom was out too far.

So after Sunday's ride noticed a crack in the frame, so back for an x-ray to identify if it's just paint.
Luckily I have a mate who has very kindly given me his spare Bianchi in the interim.

Rode 145 km today. First 110 km were comfortable but ran out gas with 35 km to go. Trying to get in shape for the Blue Lizard ride in September. 863 km over 8 days. I'm currently sitting at 3,300 km YTD which puts me behind the dreaded triangle. It is more than I achieved for the whole of 2011 so I pretty pleased about that achievement. Keep chipping away.

Cheers, Mathew

Not this one lol, the setup is a lot less aggressive but it works well for him and I don't want to tinker other than seatpost.

We've had 4 days of cold and rain and even my wife is saying that she hopes it clears up soon.
I must be getting grumpy.
That pesky little red triangle is getting away from me.

Not sure about the weather elsewhere in Oz today but kudos to anyone in Melbourne who got out and did serious kms today! It was seriously cold and wet all day.
At 1.00pm it was wet and 7 degrees or 4 if you include wind chill.
I am realizing that late nights, a stressful time at work and weather like this destroys my desire to ride!

Stress in work, don't mention the war as they say. Need to invent the next brilliant Invention or win the lottery so I don't have to work.

Just thought I'd throw in a "well done LTR" so you don't feel like you're talking to yourself!!

Haven't updated BJ for a while. Had a few weeks of very little cycling due to other stuff and then I went and dobbed myself in for a half IM in October. So now I've traded a couple of rides each week for running (yay!) and swimming (yuk!).

Cheers,

Stuart.

Big month coming up. I have timed my annual leave with the "every second counts" challenge, so aiming to do around 2000km in a month....if my legs can handle it!

Yes, sorry LTR and Stuart - well done LTR, anyone riding early morning in Melb this morning has brass ones... And if they didn't before, they certainly do now!!! (sorry- poor joke easily made!).
I've had a really slow start to the month and have discovered I really don't like temperatures below 5 degrees C.
Very keen to head somewhere warmer...

Seeing a lot of excuses, are you guys soft or something?

Haven't been riding the Trek much, been commuting on the Dolan, so much easier to maintain a fixie especially on those rainy days we've just experienced in Brissie, lube the chain, wipe the frame down with penetrative spray & wipe the tyres/rims over with vinegar, check the tyre pressures & it's ready for the next day, all up about 20 minutes maintenance.

Had some interesting experiences of late, went up to help out a team at the Tour of Toowoomba, rode training rides with them, then rode the Tour of Toowoomba charity ride, then rode the MS Brissie to Bay the following weekend. The amount of 'experts' that couldn't ride a carnival ride doing these charity events thinking they're some kind of pro, watched one goose dive down the outside of everybody who was braking trying to out brake everybody, what he managed to achieve was ripping the tyre of his very expensive lightweight wheels (the guy looked heavier than I, I'm over 100kgs & won't use lw wheels) as he tried to corner & brake at the same time, then destroy the wheel, crash onto the ground probably wrecking his frame too.

I also had these types coming up next to me 'crowding' me trying to catch the draft of the bike in front, I was well behaved, but in future I'll be 'educating' these guys what happens in track racing when someone tries 'crowding' you.

I noticed on a forum some of these pros complaining about the social riders riding all over the road getting in their way, I'd much rather ride around a bunch of social riders than these 'experts' their ego's are writing cheques their skill level can't cash.

I think from now on I'll ride the fixie in these charity rides or I'll just donate to the charity & do a similar distance ride on the other side of town.

Yep not only do I take !! BAN ME NOW FOR SWEARING !! on the interweb too seriously but it appears I take all 'expert' cyclists way too seriously.

But then what the fark would I know, I'm just a 'casual' cyclist.
