Also, looking for feedback, do you reckon this would work as a 'tweed bike' with flipped north road bars and a Brooks B17? I'll probably also swap the not particularly attractive cranks for some older steel ones, maybe even cottered.

What's wrong the the "ghost" saddle in the picture. May not be he most comfortable but it certainly be a takling point. :D

There's a little bit of surface rust on them, but if you want them you can have them. My problem now is that the bullmoose stem is 21mm, so normal stems won't fit. The headtube doesn't look like an unusual size though so hopefully i will be able to fit a normal headset.

Idrcycles : I,m dissapointed that with a Kin Kin property such as yours overflowing with vintage tin , your considering riding a balloon tyred Tarago with bullmoose handlebars. Where is your vintage light weight ancestry disappearing to. Are you high on Pizza fumes or is it your MTB career coming back to haunt you.

Woo hoo, a 21.1 steerer, perfect. If you are still keen to let me have it I'll grab it at the ride.

Cheers for the tip mate, i have no idea about bmx's, but i have half a dozen or so lying around, should be able to scrounge a stem from one of those.

Important distinction cotterpin, i have plenty of 'retro' tin but nothing in the way of 'vintage' . About the oldest thing i've got is a mid 70s BSA, and that wouldn't be quite the trick to compliment my dashing old timer threads (i do have a 64 Raleigh Colt though, but that's a ladies bike). I'm thinking the Torago could make a passable Pashley Guvnor wannabe?

Will do singlespeedscott, and if i decide to change the headset i'll give you that too (not as though it would be of any use to me).

And speaking of dashing old timer threads....

Myself and my lovely lady :D .

This is just a 'rough draft', there are a few items which don't fit/are the wrong colour or are missing altogether but you can get the general idea.

Those are actually one of the temporary pieces, I don't think bright red really works haha. I'll be getting some brown ones from Lowes. The hat didn't fit either, but i've found a black 'train conductor' hat (that's what i call it, it's like a flat cap but taller if that makes sense), and stef will be wearing a beret (which looks FANTASTIC! :D ).

Got the headset off that MS and it's a weird size, 32.5mm cups and 26.5mm race. I reckon i might give up on that one and try to find something else to go with my vintage outfit (i can hear cotterpin laughing with glee already :) ).

I don't know if i already posted this but if there is anyone out there who wants to do the ride but can't get their hands on a bike, i have at least half a dozen ready to roll (in addition to the 9 i'll have at the show and shine :D ). Just let me know what size you need and i'll have something to suit.

53cm, you can choose between a Peugeot Avoriaz with a Shimano Tourney or an Apollo Concorde with 300EX :D . No fancy stuff in my shed haha.

EDIT: and i've been meaning to mention, the last sector of gravel is looking a bit off it's best at the moment, still smooth down the sides for most of it but some solid potholes through the centre, hopefully it doesn't deteriorate much further before the ride.

It may have been mentioned somewhere already but how coarse are the gravel roads? I was planning on riding pave singles which are pretty good as long as we aren't talking lots of large sharp metal.

DO NOT ride singles!! There's a possibility you could get through but it only takes one little rock and you're done, heed the warning of the bloke who got 15 punctures last year. I would say the gravel on the northern end of the course is pretty sharp, the rest is alright though.

I suddenly have to go to the sunshine coast for a week to visit a relative and thought for a few seconds that it would land perfectly with this ride... but alas no! I come home a week before it starts.

Hope you guys have a great time
