Buying a bike in Austria

Postby JustinS007 » Tue Jun 26, 2012 2:39 pm

Hi folks,

Can anyone advise where I can buy the equivalent of a $99 K-mart special mountain bike in Austria? Is there a particular brand or department store that would be likely to carry this type of item?

Thanks.
I'm a runner, but I sure love to ride!

Good question. Small - medium supermarkets will only have them as seasonal promotions (like Hofer which is essentially Aldi) so you are after the big ones like Interspar or even some of the big chain hardware stores like OBI

If you follow the links Metro has an online catalogue in English with two pages of bikes .

You can download a phone app for Vienna cycle paths here: http://www.bikecityguide.org/ (note it appears to only be downloadable in Austria or Europe atm)

I suggest you post a question on crazyguyonabike.com - there are a number of crazyguys in Germany that could probably answer the question.
