I've heard good things about the Corima 3 spoke wheel How much would one set me back ? I've got stuff on ebay
Re: TT WheelsCorima Aust is offering fronts for $990 and Campag/Shim/Sram rears for $1100
I can't find any counter intuitive info as to why not for a road bike.... http://www.corimaoz.com.au/shop/home.php?cat=611 "Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana" - Groucho Marx

Re: TT Wheels
<froths at the mouth> What's the difference between 3 spoke and 4 spoke, performance wise? I've got stuff on ebay
Re: TT WheelsOnline chatter - if you take it at face value, says the 3 spoke is an aero improvement on the 4 spoke wheel and cuts the air quieter with a better flowing profile spoke shape (said 'tear' shape)
I want to shout myself a pair of carbon wheels to run on my C50 for flatter terrain. I'll take any aero benefits I can get when I get moving fast enough to make it work but I freely admit I just love the look of these......... and I can't afford 1/3 rd more $ for MadFiber...... Re: TT WheelsHey everyone
sorry to butt in, but has anyone heard of 'shock' carbon wheels? http://www.shockcarbon.com.au/carbon-wheels.html im looking to buy my first set of TT wheels and just wanting to get opinions.. (i have been looking at the 88mm) they are based in Australia and look suspiciously cheap.. Thanks!
Re: TT Wheels
Nice wheels! They are Chinese made rims and I wouldn't be suspicious regarding the price. If you do a search on Aliexpress, you'll find dozens of suppliers with similar wheels for around the same $ or less.
Re: TT WheelsI've got stuff on ebay
TT Wheels1080 would be a handful in wind... I get a bit nervous with a 80 mm when on the extenders if trucks and that are passing. So fast wheel but not usable every day.
On the tri-spoke ... Can you use them in TTT's as I know you do some Mike.
Re: TT WheelsThe 2011 NSW TTT was so windy that I was the only team member who used the clip-ons on the return leg. Definently not 1080 conditions.
Sorry TLL, I'm not understanding your tri-spoke comment I've got stuff on ebay
TT WheelsHere we're not allowed to use three or four spoke wheels in team time trials. Only in solo time trials can we use them. I am not sure if that is a standard regulation worldwide or not.
Re: TT WheelsUnless you do TTs on perfectly flat courses I think the weight penalty of 1080 would make it not viable. An 808 might be a better compromise. I run a 404 on the front of my TT bike, mainly because the courses I ride usually involve hills of some sort.
AFAIK you are allowed to run 3 or 4 spoke wheels in a TT here in Australia. There is at least one guy in my club that runs a tri-spoke front wheel and he does open races as well and to my knowledge noone has ever challenged him about it. Edit: TLL was asking about TTT, not ITT. Dunno the answer to that, very rarely does anyone from my club do TTT though the option is there at every club TT if you want to. I'm doing an ITT (optional TTT) later on today, I'll ask the Commissaire.
Re: TT Wheels
Maybe they call a team TT a "mass-start" race? Our Website is: http://www.pro-liteoz.com Find us on Facebook by searching for "Pro-Lite Australia"
Re: TT Wheels
What did the Commissaire say? I've got stuff on ebay
Re: TT WheelsIn other words, if your racing in Aus, as long as they are round and the front one isn't a disk, then you can use them.
At the 2011 Masters ITT championships, a number of us (including me) got pinged for the bikes being too long and they weighed them. But no one got pinged on the wheels I've got stuff on ebay
Re: TT Wheels
There is no regulation in TT events that prevents use of a front disk. I doubt the bikes were too long. The bar set up however may have extended too far forward of the BB.
Re: TT Wheels
However would they let you race with a front disk wheel? Yeh, that's what I meant, the bars were too long The problem I had was that the bars were not adjustable, so they let me race anyway I've got stuff on ebay
Re: TT WheelsThis may come across as a silly question (but do forgive me) but regarding the depth or profile of the rim in terms of the aero fairings on wheels, but where does the actual measurement take place? is it measured from the outer most part where the rim meets the tyre to the tip of the fairing, or is it from the edge of the braking surface to the tip of the fairing?
Cheers guys. 2012 EMC R2.4
Re: TT WheelsMine are from the lip. I assume others are the same?
