Callus on footI don't know if it's old age but I'm developing a quite pronounced callus on the middle of my right foot across the line of the ball of my foot.
It's getting bloody painful. This can't possibly be due to cleat positioning could it? Currently A Cenophobe

Re: Callus on footNothing to do with cleats, you could get it treated by a podiatrist.

Re: Callus on footA callus in itself should not be painful, so if it sore to press on it is most likely a corn.
Re: Callus on footDam' !!
it's a corn then. How the hell does one get a corn in the middle of the sole of the foot (it isn't but near enough for me to call it that)?? Currently A Cenophobe

Re: Callus on footMaybe a "Plantar Wart", quite painful i believe
Facts are meaningless. You could use facts to prove anything that's even remotely true!

Re: Callus on foot
bollocks, callus can be very painful without there being a corn... Santa Cruz Blur TRc XTR

Re: Callus on footso ......
what could be causing this painful spot that's roughly over the cleat ? Currently A Cenophobe

Re: Callus on footCallus and corns are typically a response to friction and or pressure, do you get a hotfoot on that side? Is there by any chance something different on or in that shoe?

Re: Callus on foot
I'm not sure what a "hotfoot" is, but there doesn't seem to be anything amiss with the shoe (but there's a bloody painful lump growing on the underside of the ball of my middle toe) Currently A Cenophobe

Re: Callus on footYou'd know if you did.

Re: Callus on footI second the possibility that it could be a plantar wart and suggest you have it diagnosed by a doctor. I had a plantar wart as a kid. I don't remember anything at all about it except having my foot injected at the doctors. I remember which part of my foot was being injected and it is right where you mention.
Re: Callus on footwell, the upshot is
- Callus (or a corn) The GP had a look, took a scalpel to it and said if it comes back have a go at it with a pumice stone. He didn't know what caused the irritation but suggested that I might have had a splinter or something ages ago that caused an irritation, the callus formed over the sore spot and the wood is absorbed by the body but the skin deposits remain to irritate for ever and ever and ever (or until you take a sharp knife to them to slice them off) Currently A Cenophobe

Re: Callus on footewww scalpal.
Well there is a less severe option. There's the heel cream called eulactal. It softens the skin so that it washes off in the shower. Normally if you want to fix your heels you have to apply it twice a day for about two weeks - depending on how bad they are. Don't buy the gold i don't think its got any more urea in it. But this stuff does work. Although of course more expensive than those methods you referred to.
Re: Callus on footIs it split? In my experience callous generally only hurts when the outer crust opens up a little. Moisturiser is an answer to that.
If it's not cracked then I have no advice - My feet seem to be trouble free as far as warts, bunions, gout, tinea, etc. Unicyclist's don't need a training wheel
