chafing on the....

Postby fab at forty » Mon Jul 23, 2012 9:49 pm

butt cheeks!

does anyone else get this? and if so, what are the recommended solutions? (remembering this is a family site! )

so pretty much where you'd get a red line if you sat on the toilet too long.... probably corresponds with the back part of the seat (bike seat, not toilet seat).

long ride? shorts too tight/loose? too much movement of butt when seated in the saddle?

anyone......

What shorts are you wearing? Undies?
Wrong saddle might be chief culprit IMO.

Go commando, assuming you're not already. Solved my chaffing probs (which were on the inner thighs, though).

+1
Undies weren't designed with cycling in mind and after a while I found they just irritate me....and I've been 200% more comfortable since I stopped wearing them when riding and only now wear my padded bike shorts.

i haven't worn undies when riding since about 1992 and am actually always surprised when i find out that people do!

the only thing i can think of is that it was a long ride and my bike shorts are beginning to get a bit old and saggy and therefore chafing....

ah well. one of life's great mysteries.

thanks for the input

actually on second thoughts, it could be the edge of my chamois i suppose - they're pretty bulky and i don't get it in my tri shorts. hmmmmm......
