Strange behaviour of an inner tube

I found a puncture last night. I usually lift one bead of the tyre from all around the rim, pull out the inner tube then take the tyre off. This time, removing the first bead was surprisingly difficult then I couldn't get the tube out. What the ??? So I removed the tyre with the tube still inside the tyre. The tube was stuck to the inside of the tyre. After I had removed the tyre from the wheel, I had to pull the tube out of the tyre, tugging hard, inch by inch.

Any body encountered this before? What causes it?

I've seen that plenty of times, don't know why though. The rubber sort of melting into each other?

+1. When I've been slack, or changing tubes on the trails I've had the tube stick plenty of times, bit of talc in a new tyre usually solves the problem. Have seen greasing the tube with rubber grease recommended for motocross, but I wont be trying that on bike tubes, just too messy.

Or just leave it like that

When I was running two sets of tyres on my MTB - some knobbies for off-road epics and some slicks for city commuting - the tubes were stuck in, but this was all good as it made it so much easier to just rip the tyres off, tube and all to, swap them over.
