Sorry to hear about that. Hope you get a new bike out of it

There are a lot of hazards on Sandy Bay Rd. From broken seams in concrete (Lower Sandy Bay shops) to gutters that have pushed up or down (e.g. just before Manning Ave), potholes (take your pick), grates (again, take your pick), lumpy manhole covers (e.g. near Waimea Ave) and poorly patched gas works (e.g. around the Casino). I came a cropper on Sandy Bay Rd when my front wheel jammed in a broken seam in the concrete in wet weather and wrote off my bike about 15 months ago. Didn't think of taking the issue to the council but my home and contents insurance covered a new bike

I've bunnyhopped the mess you hit more than a few times. It's a problematic spot -- often will be merging into the right lane where this hole is lurking, in preparation for turning down into Salamanca, as well as avoiding parked cars in the left lane. Hence, I'm usually trying to ride at the traffic speed (45-50 km/h when it's not too busy) so this hole always appears suddenly from under the car ahead... There's another less severe manhole cover just before that one which does prompt me to be aware
