Me wheels for the big red Wanga project arrived yesterday, SRAM 406 courtesy of Wiggle. Nowhere on the blurb did it mention they were drilled for Schraeder valves. I know MacGyvers have been mentioned before that'll let me run Presta valved tubes without shredding them in the hole but I'm damned if I can find them. Can someone please help the idiot? Thanks Shaun

I just use a couple of short bits of plastic tube. Texta pen case cut to length and use the presta valve "lock ring" to hold them in place. You can also buy inserts for the hole in the rim. eg

Some profiled valve stem locknuts might do it for you There is also a specific alloy insert that you can buy to do the job, but I have some of these very locknuts from tubes I've bought so I could use this if I ever needed to (not looking too likely).

Fairly sure its one of the Continental family of tubes. I think I bought a 5 or 10 pack of their tubes in a Wiggle order once and they had the threaded nuts with a lip such as Pete's posted.
Kym All manner of half finished projects and a bit of randonneuring I used to be tech-savvy. Now I'm just tech-weary.
