On the down side, I have to throw out a dozen pairs of trousers that are way too big!

Had dropped from 67 to 63kg.
Had friends over for last 3 weeks and drunk beer most nights, missed 5 games of footy due to bloody rain and I know I have put on a couple but worse is that I have lost fitness due this and selling my BMC a month ago
Feel fat and full of self loathing.

I feel fat and full of hommus, as well as self loathing. Have recently moved house and had visitors here, so lots of meals consumed on the go. And now, I'm sick and not allowed to do anything for a couple of days, so I'm feeling especially gross. If my body fat measuring scales show up tomorrow, it will be poor timing indeed.wurtulla wabbit wrote:Similar boat.

18/07/12 - 75.1kg, way too much body fat, way too little water, muscle level slightly below where it should be.

May re adjust aims to between 95 and 100 pending another Dexa scan a little later in the year and the amount of lean mass I have. Aim will be 10% bodyfat.

Reading through the posts here I am inspired, some amazing people and achievements in this thread!! Keep it up people you make me want to try harder.
So I am 37 yo male 189 cm and finaly got a kick up the proverbial New years when I hit the scales and saw 118.5 hmm need to do something about that. Started running about once a week and made no appreciable difference, although it did stop getting worse!
Bought a bike towards the end of March and now commuting 2-3 days a week 24k a day and riding on the weekends anything up to 60k. I haven't actually done anything about diet yet, but I know that the more weight I loose I am going to have to start doing something. I guess I probably drink less on a Sat night so I don't feel too bad on a Sunday morning for a ride.
As at 6/8 I was 107.3
My immediate target is <100kg by Xmas and then next year to bring that down to 88kg and a healthy weight range.

tried everything from the gym, all the low fat stuff, forcing myself to run.
Jan 2011 - 120kg - 265 pounds
March 2011 purchased a mountain bike and rode once a week - 118kg - 260 pounds
... ... didn't weight myself for a long time
August 2011 first 50km mountain bike event 105 kg - 230 pounds
November 2011 purchased my road bike I was mountain biking saturday and sunday and wanted to train on the road bike 98kg - 216 pounds
Feb 2012 weekend mountain biking and 2 x 50km road biking during the week 95 kg - 210 pounds
Aug 2012 weekend mountain biking and 3 x 60km road biking during the week 90 kg - 198 pounds <- this was my weight when I was 17 i am now 26
to give you guys an idea of how crazy my weight was
Jan 2011 weist size 40
Aug 2011 weist size 38
Feb 2012 weist size 34
now (in between of 32 and 34)
I am touching below 90kg / 198 pounds so I rewarded myself with a Scott Foil with SRAM RED.
I aim to be in the low 80kgs 175 pounds by the end of the year.
Not once did I consider what I ate. I just stopped junk foods, and planned my meals prior to rides and leading up to races.
It's the only sport where I can eat whatever I want provided i don't eat junk food
I haven't eaten McDonalds ....etc for a year and a half (except maybe a coupleof sundaes)
By the way if I get to 75 kg or high 70s I plan on rewarding myself with some Zipps or HEDs and a carbon dual sus 29er (new giant trance x29er on the low end of the budget or a santa cruz big mama)
and to step up this weight loss I am looking around for a package that includes introduction / training and rental of a track bike / track riding
I'm still worried coz my heart rate data appears to be really high which means I think i'm still not fit enough
I can only max mid 160s heart rate (averageing 155s on a ride) and my resting heart rate is above average

I am a late joiner for this year.
I turn 53 later in the year.
I used to ride between 240 and 400k per week until approx 2 years ago (150 - 250 k of commuting and 90 - 150k weekend rides, often Mt Glorious Mt Mee etc, loved the climbing) then over a 6 month period my ks per week dropped and dropped until I stopped riding entirely in October 2010 and havent ridden since.
Bluddy work commitments
Was 72kg in May 2010, had put on a few kg when I stopped riding in Oct 2010, but hit 90kg (heaviest I have ever been) about 3 weeks ago .
Life is still too busy to do the commute so I have bought a trainer in the last few days. My aim is to use the trainer to build fitness and drop weight then get back into the weekend rides, and hopefully get back into commuting too.
Goals:
1. not to kill myself or wreck my knees by pushing myself too hard initially (bit of a sore knee after 3 days on the trainer so need to take it carefully...I am not very patient when it comes to "building up slowly" )
2. drop a kg per week until I get to 75kg, then see what happens (I doubt I'll get to 72kg, I was probably a bit too lean at that weight)
3. be fit enough by October to join a group that I like riding with on the weekends (used to ride with Duttons Club and sometimes Redcliffe Tri Club)
4. get back into some mountain climbing by the end of the year.
5. do some target rides (eg Noosa 160 if it still happens, Bris to Gold Coast with return trip by bike preferably) in 2013
6. GET BACK TO DOING SOMETHING THAT I LOVE....RIDING (how have I let it get this long since I rode??????????????)
Hope to see some of you out there on the road in a few weeks / months
Tim

Age 43, 169cm. At 20/12/11 I was 84kgs which is overweight for my height.
Decided to get back into cycling after many, many years of not riding. Got stuck into the mountain biking (trying to head offroad every few weekends), went in the Mont24 this year in March, some cycling on the M7 cycleway and not commuting to work (about 28-30kms a day) 3 to 4 times a week.
Current weight 72kgs
Haven't set any goals, just more about feeling fitter.

In the first 10 weeks, we've lost almost 20kgs between us. I'm down to 90.5kgs, which is the lightest I've been in 20 years. I competed in the 100km Coffs Coast Challenge recently and beat my best time by 20 minutes. It amazing how much difference that 8kgs makes on a hilly course!
Nobody looks back on their life....and remembers the nights they got plenty of sleep !!

I'm 52yo, 190cm and weighed in at 98.2kgs, but after a lifetime of playing sport, I have always considered myself fit, healthy and fairly knowledgable about nutrition. However, I've learnt a lot about healthy eating and portion sizes. There is a lot of variety in the meals, and we've really enjoyed tried new recipes.

Cause maybe I've discovered the secret to weight loss, 2kg in 1 day, consuming about 3000 calories in that day with no exercise.
Like what the!?
Nope, aint dehydrated on the wednesday, nope didn't have a huge dump either, yep same scales, yep same time of day for the weigh in.
Come on, the floor is open...
