2012 NAB Coffs Coast Cycle Challenge

The NAB Coffs Coast Cycle Challenge was launched in 2010 as a picturesque community bike ride on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales.

The 2012 Challenge, being held on the 5th August is a ride of 60 and 100 kilometres starting and finishing at the Coffs Harbour Jetty Foreshores and has more than seven different categories to enter suiting all cyclists over the age of 14 years.

I have ridden the 2010 and 2011 Coffs Coast Challenge, and would recommend it to all riders. The first year's ride was 75kms, and much of it was on the old Pacific Highway, although there was a 5km section of unsealed road with cattle-grids that brought a few riders unstuck However, the course was lengthened to 100km last year, and now heads inland to Bellengin. The ride is sealed roads all the way, with plenty of winding roads, hills and beautiful scenery.

The event attracted 250 riders in the first year and around 500 in 2011. It would be great to see this event continue to grow and become a regular part of the NSW Cycling calendar.

A mate and I are heading to Coffs from Canberra for this... mostly because we're desperate to ride in some nice weather!

Anyone else going? We're thinking of camping, but there are 4 (and 6) share YHA rooms going very cheap if we could find two more.
