Re: Perth weatherIt wasn't so bad. Rained heavily but wind was moderate to nothing. I believe that it could get worse tonight but I have my fingers crossed for the ride in tomorrow.
Unicyclist's don't need a training wheel
Re: Perth weather62k loop around the river this morning. Northerly was a bit strong but the weather was beautiful, even warm in places.
Summers coming folks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The trouble with jogging is that the ice falls out of your glass
Re: Perth weatherKnocked off at 2pm today did 60k's down the coast it was GLORIOUS. I so much enjoy riding in the warm sun and in the light.
Re: Perth weatherPerth - Wed evening
It was back to moderate arvo breeze. And I can't recall seeing so many riders on the arvo trip. Great to see. Unicyclist's don't need a training wheel
Re: Perth weatherSurely the people on Riverside Drive must be assessing their options, watching all the cyclists wizzing by. I reckon a 'cycle instead' banner next to the road would get plenty of cars off the road. Mind you, I cannot understand why people would want to sit in a carpark burning fuel.
Monday evening there wasn't any let up in the rain. With glasses on at night it makes visibility very tough; the water on the lenses. I even almost hit two ducks standing in the middle of the path!
Re: Perth weatherAh..... spring has sprung, perfect riding weather again in Perth. I have noticed that there have been a lot more people on their bikes at all levels of experience, particularly on the weekends. It is good to see.
Re: Perth weather
How was the submarine? My ride home only 1.8km, mostly downhill into the wind and rain, across a roundabout and finally 200m uphill into the wind and stinging rain that was hard slog the 42x18 felt more like a 53x16 my blog Nick Cowie, member of Peel District Cycling Club
Re: Perth weatherActually it wasn't that bad. Was alot worse North (especially the tree down over the path at Thomas where I cross from North to South PSPs) and I was getting pelted with hard rain until I crossed the Narrows, where it was just windy without much rain.

Re: Perth weatherThis one?
Second tree down at this location this week. Got caught in a down pour in Perth, amazing to see the volume of water on the shared path near Parliment Hill, were the water drains off the Freeway into drains on the shared path, and any excess comes flooding up and out.
Re: Perth weatherThe tree has been cut up and placed on the edges of the path. I went through about 12 and it was cleared by then. I must admit once they are informed, the problem is rectified very quickly.
Makes a big change from the usual perceived old days where it would stay in place until somebody took care of it privately.
Re: Perth weatherWas an awesome day for a ride save the wind the bloody wind I hate wind
Re: Perth weatherNice day for a ride if you are with a bunch of A & B grade racers, sat in the pack going north at 30-32kmh until I choose to lead them through back streets of Murdoch to avoid the PSP roadworks. 25kmh into 40kmh gusting to 50kmh NNE, I worked bloody hard to get that speed.
Trip home south was "fast" 4 PBs on Strava, would of got more if one of our number did not get stung by bee and we stopped. my blog Nick Cowie, member of Peel District Cycling Club
Re: Perth weather
Nice! I managed to also get stung by a bee Friday.
Re: Perth weatherWhich nutters rode today ??
Re: Perth weatherMe! Going in to work was ok, just got very wet. At 1 pm I had to go into town to do an induction and had to ride straight into that wind for about 10 km. Probably the slowest 10 km I've ridden in a long time, I was actually slowing down when coasting down hills! Didn't see too many others about - could count the number of cyclists on 1 hand.
Re: Perth weatherI did...early morning around 6ish.However after much deliberation i am hopping on to the train tonight!
Re: Perth weatherOnly to and from the train station, home was with 60kph crosswind come headwind. Did see some brave/foolhardy/crazy soul ride over the footbridge used for the PSP South Perth detour, in the middle of the storm. At least both my rides was dry.

Re: Perth weatherI rarely commute but did yesterday as I didn't need my laptop. In was good but the ride home was into 40kmh head wind. The gauge at home had a max of 48kmh and bom reported 50 at ocean reef at the time. That was enough for me. I'll stick to the trainer for a few days - only a loony commuter would be out today. which reminds me - where is Roland?
Re: Perth weatherI was out. In was just wet in the morning. Nothing like putting on wed clothes/shoes for the trip home. Homeward bound (heading north) into head wind was painful, took an extra 15mins to get home.
There is a lot of branches on the paths, including a tree down again on the path at Thomas (cleanered off the path at least). I also did see Colin out on his uni this morning.
Re: Perth weatheron the tredley today, kept dryish this morning, blowing a gail ths arvo on the way home going north sheesh!
see what tomorrow brings Orbea Euskaltel:Ultegra,Durace,RS80
Orbea Erandio Hybrid
Re: Perth weatherI had a pretty nice ride in today, didn't get too wet. Left work early and didn't see any rain on the way home. Hard work in the wind though.
I was in the CBD late morning, found that very unsettling. Passed this scene on Kings Park Road on my way back to Subi; ![]()
Re: Perth weatherHeaps of shredded bark when I left home this morning. But I never saw any destroyed fences - I suspect that whatever was going to fall over has already done so during winter.
However I did see a long long section of that portable linked mesh fencing that is used these days around construction sites. With it all being mesh and a reasonalby solid base on those things it must have been a fair squall that went thru bateman. I piked out of riding home. I think it was a good decision as even the few km I did ride gave rise to several times where I struggled to make any forward movement. Still, I am looking forward to the ride in tomorrow. Unicyclist's don't need a training wheel
Re: Perth weatherI haven't got home yet, but I waited out the morning til 7:45am to have a clear dry hour, puncture in the first 10min near Warwick station, only saw 2 bikes in 20min window of repairing it (photos and music dragged me out 10min I think, not as quick at stoppage photos as Roland
Upside to last night's headwind was getting it as a tail wind this morning Missed a few windows of no-rain and family time this evening to get home, so doing some work and watching the radar, the positive side seems to be wind has switched west-south westerly now instead of north westerly. Lights and music charged... I hope the weather keeps the ferals away from the paths on drunken Wednesday pub night closing time.
