I'm sure you will be very happy with your purchase. I used the same setup on last years tour and never had to sit around and waiting to charge the Garmin.
I never used paper maps as I had planned a rough route and loaded them on the GPS from the small computer I took with me, which had a battery life of 10 h ( mainly for doing the journal on CGOAB )
One thing I learned very quickly is to take the Garmin of its auto routing as it sometimes played havoc when I went of the route for sightseeing
