Re: Qld weather venting postsJust bloody windy again up here, great for the way out, but not so great on the way home. A day without wind would be nice for a change.

Re: Qld weather venting posts
It was a great morning despite the temp. I thought that it was a bit quite on the loop this morning too, lovely watching the moon set and then the sunrise while enjoying the very quite roads. Lisa
Re: Qld weather venting posts
+1 To the no more head winds!
Re: Qld weather venting postsHow cold was it this morning ?
it seemed really cold to me until started to climb up Mt Coot-tha Near the summit cafe it was relatively warm and sunny just after sunrise. But descending near Legacy tunnel worker's carpark all of a sudden hit the cold air at 60 km/hr Quite an incredible paradox that it can be several degrees warmer on the summit of a mountain. I am sure there is a scientific explanation. Recent Favorite rides:

Re: Qld weather venting postsI think 4.2° C was the lowest reading this morning, but it felt colder.

Re: Qld weather venting posts
I was on the mountain this morning too! The garmin said 3.6 at the base and 9.6 at the summit. Yep... Breaking through the inversion on the way down always amazes me how you go from warm to freezing in 50 meters! Once you can climb hills on a bike it's all downhill.
Hopefully I'll know what that's like..... one day. ![]()
Re: Qld weather venting posts
Thanks for the stats - i have a Bryton but it never gives me atmospheric temperatures when i ride with it in the back pocket. Quite a memorable morning - got home to find that Australia had doubled its Gold medal count thanks to Anna Meares and then Sally Pearson. A priceless moment in Australian cycling history Recent Favorite rides:

Re: Qld weather venting postsHa, i'm the opposite, I hate this weather, the last few weeks were OK, but its starting to warm up and I don't like it. Days that get over 21-22 are getting too hot for me. Loved last month, I was in NZ for a month where it was -8 - 10 most of the time... perfect.
Re: Qld weather venting postsWhen I had the fat suit I loved to cold... But now the hot doesn't phase me.

Re: Qld weather venting postsThats a fair point, got a fair bit of lard to remove...
Re: Qld weather venting postsFinally it's the typical winter weather....this is THE best time of the year, cool mornings, warm days just before the maggies and snakes start coming out to play!!
And no rain for a month is making it even better Lisa
Re: Qld weather venting posts
Saw my first big ugly brownish/orange toad tonight on the KBB. Must be about to warm up. Gas propulsion.......it's natural don't fight it.

Re: Qld weather venting postsKnocked around by the westerlies this morning.
Not cold, but not hot either. Lots of sticks and twigs from the gum trees on the road. No cane toads - they don't like this type of weather. But dogs obviously do. ![]() Recent Favorite rides:

Re: Qld weather venting posts
Not the best morning to be up Coottha today...very gusty for the whole lap, plus all the sticks and rubbish made for a slow descent across the top and down the front....hopefully these winds will depart along with the Ekka Lisa
Re: Qld weather venting postsI can say the first leg of the Ride To Conquer Cancer had pretty big head winds all day. The winds had better not stop tomorrow as I want tail winds!
Re: Qld weather venting postsSundays ride.
The phone said minimum of 8°. Apparently, (in retrospect the whole bunch must have seen the same mins and dressed acordingly) it wasn't going to be too cold and we were going to be out for 100ks so the general thought was to come home comfortable. WRONG. Headed inland and north from Noosa towards Boreen Point on McKinnon Drive and the temperature dropped and continued dropping to 2°. We froze as everyone had dressed lightly, including a couple of riders in short gloves and no leg warmers. Man, we really enjoyed the workout up reverse Coroioba to start warming up and it wasn't until we got to the top of Cudgerie with some sun that life became bearable. It was a great ride though. Unless you are at the front of the pack the view's the same.
