Ebike with Protanium shaft drive

Postby AUbicycles » Wed Aug 08, 2012 10:33 am

Just spotted this in the bike-eu (trade) news.

They confirm that (obviously) shaft drives are not new however this solution integrates the motor with the shaft drive and and means that the 'lost effective transmission' is compensated by the motor.

Is Protanium sort of like Unobtainium but for Professional riders?

Depends if it goes into production. I like ideas of simplifying the drive train but even something like the gates carbon drive isn't taking the world by storm, despite how nice it is. I would be guessing premium price segment.
