looks gorgeous, harcs. makes me think of jaguar xk140's for some reasonharcs wrote:Noosa Eroica spurred me on to finish my 1940 Malvern Star, 3 Star, "Oppy Racer". The ride was great with the bike performing well. Hit 72kph on the return to Noosa. I did have a little concern when I considered the spokes are 72 years old. The wheels and the seat are basically the only bits I did not have to rebuild.

Very nice is the colour black? See our Vitus Appreciation Society:LG wrote:Don't think I've posted anything in this thread, might try to do a bike a week for the next month or 2.
Vitus 979 with superbe pro. Some bikes just fit like a glove and feel right, this is one of them.

84 Ti Raleigh in Panasonic Colours
Nuovo Record Group with Super Record levers and modern record calipers, titanium rolls saddle is surprisingly light. Not some fancy italian steed but i love it to death. i only got 3 pics before the battery died.

Got the frame and forks in pretty rusty shape but cleaned up ok... Would like to invest in this one to get it rechromed and painted! It seems to be a Bianchi X4/Experimental 4... The logo on the head tube is engraved along with all the usual spots, fork blades and seat stays have also been crimped to an aero shape. The plan is to track down an '86 Super record group for it... long term plan that is..... so non fluted engraved Super Record cranks, cobalto brakes etc. Currently Ive put some early c-record era componentry on it.
Finally got some nice C-record pedals
What a great find and I must admit to a little jealousy. I like your plans for a late model Super Record gruppo. Along with the Cobalto's I think the late model cranks came in 2 versions - engraved and lastly, etched. I think the old, but last model Super Record seatposts were fully polished too.
Great bike.

Nice little durable cheapie. Just give a grease and oil change (so to speak) and a gentle wipe down with whatever finishing product (armor-all?) you prefer. And ride it. Some new classic style grips and some tyres is probably all it needs after that.

Ok sweet Ive got tyres just need to find grips , So this was a cheap bike back in the day ?
Yea I agree with you its not worth redoing it again. Cheersldrcycles wrote:That looks fantastic, and it's not often you see bikes that age in such good nick. I would DEFINITELY do whatever i could to preserve that original paintwork, sure you could strip and restore it but it would cost a fair bit (whether time or money) and then you have lost the original paint. Looks great.

Grips that look okay are easily got from LBS or online. Cheap is fairly subjective. Bikes used to cost relatively more than they do now but this looks like a basic "girls" roadster.TheAbstractwhite wrote: Ok sweet Ive got tyres just need to find grips , So this was a cheap bike back in the day ?
("Step through" would be a better term as I think its silly to give bikes a gender.)
Is it a 26x 1 3/8 tyre ?

See it at next year's L'Eroica show? Just make sure there's plenty of rust proofing for all the drool it's going to attract.
