riding around Lorne
Postby iaintas » Wed Aug 08, 2012 10:44 pm
Im heading to Lorne next week and looking for riding suggestions and routes and wondering if there is any open group rides that head out on the weekend that wouldn't mind a Tassie tag along. Cheers

The Great Ocean Road to Torquay is fantastic - mind the cars, with some blind turns on the 'land side'!
You can also climb up Skenes Creek Rd into the Otways or up Lavers Hill if you're into that sort of thing.

I was in anglesea at Christmas, the Great Ocean Rd is awe inspiring, head to Anglesea there is a roadside lane 1-2 m wide most fo the way. If you ride early there is not too much traffic. From Lorne west towards Apollo Bay is more rugged, but narrow with no roadside verges.
There is a group ride that meets In Anglesea on Wed & Sat morning from the coffee shop in the centre of town, 7:30am departure I think.
Matt.

When you get past Lorne there is much less traffic.... especially on an August weekend. It will probably remind you of home Ian
