My friend found this frame, fork with Shimano Golden Arrow group on the side of the road. It sat in his shed for a few years. No idea what brand the frame is, but it is late 70's or early 80's I would say.
Also found the 700c wheels on the side of the road, Gold Araya rims with Shimano 105 hubs. Straight as they come!

I really want to find a better frame/fork, it isnt bad but i suspect i can do better.
Perth's affluent areas are a gold mine for high quality bits.

The puppy is not from bulk rubbish :)

You're not wrong! Our purebred Staffy was $600 about 8 years ago...same breeder now wants $2K!

Picked up these 2 today for $80.00

One is a Repco Superlite with out the main decals. Need to do a better inspection tomorrow but looks ok.

The one with the crazy handlebars is a Miyata three ten, tripple butted cromo frame. Again need to have a closer look but appears to be in pretty good nick. Pretty happy to grab them both at that price.

Looks like the yellow/white colour scheme from an Olympic 12 to me. They were all cromo, versus the Superlite which only had cromo main tubes.

I reckon! Well done. 8)

Are the Repco seer lite any good ? Some fella offered me one but as I associated Repco with crap, I declined.

if it's really tidy, someone will buy it from you.
if it looks like a "badgers arse", it might make a good commuter/wet weather bike.
there's a thread dedicated to repco's, which will tell you all you ever need to know.

Ok I will check it out out a little further. I have a superlite frame in the came colours I noticed that the head badge on this one is different to the superlite... So maybe it is an olympic. Thanks.

Well the Yellow one is an Olympic 12. Basically Identical to the Purple and pink one I have. Looks in good nick but back rim is out of alignment. Not to much rust and frame looks straight.

The Miyata is the better of the two. It is in good condition, few marks here and there as you would expect. I pulled a bit of it apart and got rid of those stupid triathalon bars.

Image
It has a 1986 serial number but has 1985 graphics and components. The wheels are not the same I think the rear has been replaced and the front is original. The bearing in the front run super smooth.

Rear is

While the front is an araya

Will clean up nice once my superlite project is finished. You can see a few more pics here http://www.flickr.com/photos/fitzroybikeco/7721359360/

That Miyata would make a nice town bike/shopper with a portuer rack and guards.

Well took it for a spin today, still can't believe the tyres held the air over night. It actually rides very nice, much nicer than the repco Olympic 12 I have been spinning around on lately. The geometry is nice, turns a bit quicker than the Repco. All I have done to it so far is change the handle bars, give it a wash and replace the brake lever. Will post some pics.

I have a few ideas for this one but the portuer rack and guards are high on the list.

My latest score from the tip shop. It's branded "Gem" and has a makers decal on the seat tube "Gem cycles, Wilson St. Burnie, Tasmania".

27" steel rims with steel hubs. Stronglight cranks, Wienman 730 brakes and SR alloy bars and stem. Shifters and front derrailleur are Suntour but the rear is a Shimano RS.

Great find! That is worth buying just for the cranks. I have a stronglight remover if you need to borrows it.

I bought a standard peugeot mixte from the tipshop last week as well, not sure what I'm going to do with it as all the females in my family already have one.

Looks like a cotter pin jobbie; can be seen just in shot on the end of the crank arm. All you really should need is a hammer & some finesse... in theory ;)

Was driving through brisbane this arvo and noticed that roadside rubbish collection was on in one of the northern suburbs. Had a little look around and kaboom, found a really cool little folding bike, a Bridgestone Picnica. I've done a little googling and there isn't much info on them, but it looks cool with it's teensy little 14" wheels. In reasonable nick, bit of TLC should have it looking good.

Well that would certainly make things a bit easier! Your screen must be a wee bit better than mine at the moment. Just make sure you don't miss with the hammer or take an angle grinder to those cranks.

If anyone is interested, there's a really old racer near top of sunset drive in caloundra .
Missing rear wheel but complete otherwise, dumped outside gate.
Blue in colour, rusty in places , large flange front hub, all other parts there by what I seen.
Don't know if it's for the tip or what, leaning against a tree, worth a look if you're so inclined !

Serial # is C9D70137.

Hmm. That looks a lot like a low-spec Ricardo Bushbike. I reckon that's not a Chromoly frame like the good Bushbikes - pig steel.

Picked this up from the local tip shop, $50 with no seat and some crappy wheels. Chucked a pair of lightly used 90s Campy Eurus 20 wheels and a spare Specialized Toupe on it straight away, the first pic is from the day I picked it up. At some point it was sold as frame only and had lost its 600 tricolour 8-speed group to end up with a 300EX group on it when I bought it, I fitted a pair of old 600 tricolour brake levers, current 105 derailleur I had spare and a pair of 8 speed downtube shifters, plus some round alloy chainrings in place of the pressed steel 300EX biopace ones. Also swapped the unbrando bar and stem for period Cinelli stem and criterium bars.
I did a few thousand kms on it then gave it to my dad. Its a super harsh ride (but utterly flex free under power, a real sprinters' bike) but handles nicely. Only thing which worries me is that now 16 year old Kinesis carbon fork...I'd very much like to replace it for him with a newer fork. Also would like to find a 600 8-speed groupset for it.

that is such a nice pickup...yeah would seem "harsh" but quite interested in seeing how it rides.
