Snagdog, I got mine recently, I love the color and I picked it up for $2800. There is absolutely nothing that comes close in the $3k price tag, and it's much MUCH better bike then the price tag suggests.

I also own a black and red bike Sven and Sparky and agree its a nice mix, something about a black sparkling frame :D

I currently ride a Scott S20 but think it's time for an upgrade. I think I'll have to go and get a test ride. The colour doesnt bother but I'll get a closer look to be sure.
'So does anyone have any tips on how I break the news to my LBS who stocks Scott, Avanti & Colnago, who I do group rides with occasionally and who has been extremely helpful and friendly since I have been riding, that I'm buying a Giant?

Easy: Ask them if they can do Scott Foil 15 for $3k.
If they are a decent bike shop they will realise you are a customer for more than just one bike purchase... :D

I finally got around to weighing the bike. Still completely in love with it. I do not miss the mechanical feeling like I thought I might.

Size - ML with standard giant bars and 110mm stem. Uncut fork and aluminum spacers.
Wheels - standard wheels PSL0, butyl tubes and Gp4000s
Pedels - Look keo grey. About 4 year old
Accessories - two carbon cages, Magicshine light, Ritchey comp saddle.

Total weight: 8090grams (for WW types) 8.09kg for lamen people :P

I haven't tried to make the bike light, I wouldn't think it would be hard to get it down to 7kgs. Anything less then that and the bike doesn't feel right over crappy roads.

Does anyone think once they release the 2013 stock that the price will come down from 3K or do you think that they will stay firm

Hammo, they've knocked 25% off the price so I doubt you'll see any further 'official' reduction.

Agreed, I think that $3000 is pretty much as low as they will go. They started at $4200 and I know a couple of giant dealers here in Melbourne that are just getting there money back.

I was told the lack of acceptance of the new Di2 ultegra and color was the reason why they had to drop the prices so low only after 3 months. Now shops are caught between a rock and a hard place because the bike is starting to get some great reviews finally by a few magazines.

and the 2013 range launch is only a month away...
As I've said before (ad nauseum) if you like the colour scheme - buy one. I reckon (mechanically) that it's a bargain.

2013 US version has a better frame colour scheme at least;

Don't know if we'll get the same colour here but in the US the price has risen too....

Apart from the paint job and the chain, anybody see anything difference between the 2012 and the 2013? I couldn't.

Noticed on a few of the 2013 models they are sticking with having blue in there somewhere.

I donno... the silver wasn't the best choice and the blue was horrible.

The darker blue and the black and white seems better. Just have to wait for the Australian site to announce a price and then wait for a sale!

Hmm also, anybody notice that the Bottom Bracket in the 2012 states it's Dura-Ace level while the one in 2013, it doesn't. Reckon they're the same?

Yeah noticed that as well. I think they only make one type of press fit bottom bracket.

Giant Aus facebook page has pics from the local launch. The ADV 0 looks the same as the US model. Much better colour IMO

Local price will be RRP $3999

Think you're right. Pressfit road BB only comes in Dura-ace AFAIK.

I don't get the whole "I don't like the colour scheme" thing.

The bike is for riding.

Each to their own, but IMHO buying based on liking a colour scheme is, dare I suggest, shallow?

I have a purple bike, a poo brown bike, a red bike, a black bike and two silver bikes. Some people make fun of the colours, especially the poo brown Surly and the purple custom build single speed. Like I care.

One of those silver bikes is the TCR 0. It rides brilliantly. Nothing else matters.

OK, on your terms I'm "shallow" but if I'm paying out $3999.00 (or more) of my hard earned for a bike then I want it to be in a colour that appeals to me. I call that "personal choice". If not for personal choice you might not have the option of a purple bike, a poo brown bike, a red bike, a black bike and two silver bikes. You'd have the Model T Ford option - "painted any color that he wants so long as it is black"....

Happy riding waramatt :D

In a way I agree with you Waramatt. The specs is the most important in the bike.

However, with all things, aesthetic does play a part in a decision in a purchase. You want to like the practicality as well as the look.

If 2013 has the same specs as 2012, and it does look better (in some people's opinion, not all), why not?

I had a choice between TCR Advanced 0 2012 vs Scultura, and even though Scultura did look better than the TCR, I felt the Giant's bike had better bang for bucks. The only reason I didn't buy it was because the 2013 was on its way for release and I wanted to wait to see specs of 2013. Now that it's about to be released, I feel I'd be happy to wait for the price to come down with the 2013 model to give me just one more reason to love the bike. The only reason I wouldn't buy the 2013 is if the 2012 model comes down a significant amount in price.

We'll see!

The 2012 model is $2999.00 at the moment so is as cheap as it will get. I believe availability is limited though.

Isn't that RRP? I'm hoping shops will have their own little discounts.

$3999.00 is RRP. $2999.00 is therefore a $1000.00 or 25% discount!

The $2999 was a discount forwarded from Giant, as part of their Tour de France promotion.

I'm not saying it's not a great price, it's just I always feel I need to ask the shop "What's your best price?"

(Must be the Asian in me)

Heh I'm not saying I'd be successful. But as I said in my previous post, I'd only buy the 2012 one if there's a significant discount.

Otherwise, I'd be happy to wait for the 2013 to drop in price!
