Building your own workstand

Just seeing if anyone has built there own workstand?
I've been pondering having a crack sometime soon after I figure out what material to use

I made someone a workstand once out of an old towball bike rack (or carrier), the sort of thing safe to leave out in the carport as no one would ever steal it. I used some square section steel tube to make a triangle of two legs bolted to where the towball met to make do as legs, even cable-tied an ice cream container to the shaft as a tool bucket. The 'legs' were made to lay flat on the ground and extended under the bike, balancing the load. Just use a bike carrier that is easy to open and won't mangle your bike. Still in use 10 years later.

There are several examples of people making workstands out of PVC tubing, if you aren't up to metalworking.

You can also use a pedestal fan base, just pull the fan off and you're done. Mainly for painting frames as they aren't rock solid, but no effort required.
