No ride for me this afternoon - thunderbolts of lightning, very very frightening....

Nasty storm and wind. Crazy out there. I saw the Newcastle express train go through Wynyard headed for the harbour bridge even due to the line being blocked at Epping.

I must have timed it right because whilst I got wet, it wasn't the drowning I expected. Occasional gust off wind slowed me down, ESP on the Anzac Bridge.

On the plus side, it was a nice easy run across pyrmont bridge

Pure good luck. I rushed home 'coz the missus wanted to go for a bike ride instead of a swim. Just as we'd got
changed into bike gear and walked out to the garage, the skies opened. She rightly opted to go for a swim in
the pool, not on the bike and it was hard to find an argument that made sense of riding in a thunderstorm.
If only it had held off for another hour Glad you're day ended better.

+1 to this. It seemed in my face coming into town this morning and no doubt i will push into it on the way home. Re that satellite image from yesterday, if you expanded the size of the map that front was massive, easly stretching diagonally across the state.

Yep... I saw that at 4.55pm & decided the train home was the best option...

I left work at 6 and it was done, just a wet bum from the back wheel and a dirty bike
Didn't even have to dry my shoes.

I did the same - only a little rain that didn't bother me one bit. Still I won't start riding in thunder and lightning - that much electricty does worry me. (silly maybe but some thunder storms around Sydney come with complementary fist sized hail)

Finally some nice weather in the highlands. Beautiful yesterday afternoon with no wind but cold this morning (-2). Only trouble is I have to bring 2 sets of gloves and carry some clothes home.

It would be wrong of me to point out that on most days with an overnight low of 10 I am riding in shorts and short sleeves, no gloves.

Great ride, left off the jacket and just wore the arm and leg warmers with jersey and knicks, fingerless gloves too. Hands and toes were a little chilly but wonderful otherwise, especially in the sun.

I did go out for a ride this afternoon, but turned around after about 3km and went back home when it started raining. The wind wasn't nice either.

Spring is definitely in the air! It was warm enough at six this morning for me to reorganise the kit I had put out last night for lighter weight stuff. And a very pleasant run it was indeed.

For those commuting through Rhodes to SOP and environs, the waterside bike path is now open from the Meadowbank Bridge all the way to SOP, bypassing the building work and traffic through the Rhodes shopping centre completely. Makes for a very pleasant run alongside the picturesque (and unfortunately polluted) Homebush Bay.

Just wore summer kit with leg and arm warmers at 6:45 this morning, probably only need the summer kit on the way home today too!
