Giant sizing

Postby Ross » Wed Aug 29, 2012 10:14 am

Giant are having a test ride day soon and I need to book a place and tell them what size (road) bike I require. I ride a 56cm in other brands but Giant only list M/L or L. Should I go L?

I ended up emailing Giant about this and they sent back a sizing chart and based on my height (~180cm) it looks like I'm on the cusp of either M or M/L

is that a 56cm eTT? if so I'd be looking more at a M or an M/L. Giant provide a sizing guide:

If your testing a Defy I'd go M/L as the TT is shorter and the HT is longer (less reach than the TCR). TCR wise I'd go for a Medium, but if you have a long torso perhaps a M/L. What brand is your current bike?

56cm seems small for someone 180cm tall. Do you have short legs?

Gee I'd wish Giant would specify stack and reach.

I don't think so - 56cm with a 100mm stem is spot on for me at 182cm.

There's another tab on the web site. Failing that, it might appear on the US site but I've found more luck on the Giant Japan site (although mostly in XS to M sizes) that includes weights as well.

Doesn't show it you're right I was wrong:) Does show most frame geometries though, reach top tube plus stem but doesn't take into account set back so its meaningless, gives head tube height so you can very an ideas of stack height or the height of the front end.

I went with the recommendation of the shop and the assosciated info' from Giants web site. I'm 180 cm and was recommended an (M/L) in the TCX1 model. Bike was huge when it arrived. Been riding an (M) for a month now and the fit is perfect, 90mm stem slammed with no spacers. I recon' they size up big. TCX models come with 350mm seat post and even on my (M) there is still about 230mm still in the frame :!:
