Perth:

Where were you all? It was an easy ride, not too cold, not too warm, just right (sounds like goldilocks and the three bears). Never had to put the rain gear on at any stage. No spray from the river. By 6 oclock I had stripped down to singlet.

A great start to the day. :)

It may be a bit more challenging this evening though.

As luck would have it, my auspost tracking suggests my carbon wheels are with the driver on route to me! So should be able to take them home tonight.
sounds like an excuses thread post with a twist of luck....
yep got lucky on that one. Got the carbon wheels now. They look sweet!

Mad weather in Melbourne yesterday for the ride back. Decided on a multi-hop commute, stopped at the LBS in Ivanhoe to buy some chain lube after a pretty windy stage out of the CBD. Apparently the wind had knocked out the power in Ivanhoe for an hour or so.
Off to my old local in Eaglemont after that and shortly after I arrived there, a rainstorm hit. I waited it out, and left to blue skies and a bit of wind about an hour later. Headed off to my brother's place for another quick stop, and then off home.
Considering the conditions, I got off pretty lightly.
Easy run in this morning, dry, cool, and the northerly still doing its thing.

well the severe winds predicted for yesterday arvo didnt come about, but I still had some decent headwinds to contend with.

This morning the wind was still blowing but this time in my favour. Was feeling stuffed even before I got on the bike, but once started and feeling the wind behind me I thought why not, why not go for a PB.

Pushed hard and for my 45.48 k ride I achieved a PB of 35.1 k average.

I am now feeling washed out, bugger all left in me so the ride home this arvo may set a PB in the opposite direction...slowest ride ever lol

Well done - thats a great speed for over that kind of distance - I'm impressed.

This morning the weather is great and the ride in was very enjoyable. First time in shorts for this spring and even thought I have felt a little flat lately - NOT TODAY. I felt like I had grown an extra leg to help. again looking forward to the ride home. :D
Not fast, no style, but still get there.

Gretaboy - I should mention I had not flicked on my helmet 'red-flasher' light. No swooping on the return journey. Will see what happens when I ride past him again on Thursday morning.
The bird swooped once this morning the just left me alone after I tilted my helmet flasher toward him/her. The good thing about the morning ride is the sun gives me a good shadow 'image' to my left allowing me to 'see' what the bird is doing. Todays behaviour was quite different to Tuesday - I am quite sure the flasher works now.

My commutes have sucked for 6-7 weeks. Train, train, train, MTB nearly blew my knee to hell after two attempted commutes last week, so should be picking up another commuter today. Damn train takes too long, and costs too much!

loving my commute this morning! i had been interstate with work earlier in the week and was starting to get withdrawal symptoms. for some reason i've been exhausted despite not riding for a few days, but i rode in the 30km longer loop this morning anyway - i needed my fix. ahhh. thank you cycling.

Looked like there was a cyclist down at the City end of the Harbour Bridge this morning. Ambos were on the scene working on the poor bugger.

Fingers crossed they weren't too badly damaged.

I've seen a few accidents at the offramp as it is narrow and bikes come from both sides.

Time to be careful, methinks as the warmer weather will bring out the less experienced/aware commuters.

You should almost fly home this afternoon though, there has been tailwinds all week for the south sider's commute home :D makes for a nice change as usually we get the SE'erly blowing in for the ride home....

Yep - that was real nice this arvo.
Just on one hour for the ride... even with the walk over the Goodwill Bridge and traffic lights... This arvo was more than ten minutes faster than avg for the point to point (actual riding time would be even better too - but I don't track that on commutes).
No Magpies either.

Brilliant ride to work this morning. Fast yet relaxed. Ride home sucked tonight. Forgot my clear glasses and with the wind ended up with a headache from the wind. Lesson learnt.

Bought a DHB windslam jersey for the winter commutes and being short sleeved it's been fine so far. Headed home at lunch time and it almost killed me. Time for some new summer jerseys, been thinking the long sleeved ground effects would be good especially with my fair skin during summer.

Nice, No wonder I lost one of my QOM's today

I'm waiting for the maggies to come out, in previous years I've been attacked at the entrance to the V1 at Logan Rd and then again up near the high school, been practicing riding fast through those two sections for the past couple of months to prepare but so far it's all been clear....
The nasty one on Logan Rd out the front of Officeworks has started, our friend got done this week, we ride up there early on Tuesdays while it's still dark and he must be still asleep

Shocking headwind this morning on the way to work. :(

Wind direction maintained for the return trip :)

PB on Strava (incl KOM) :D

Stopped at shop and got back to the bike to find half flat tyre :(

Then walking the rest of the way home after it went more flatter because it's easier/quicker than trying to change a tyre on the side of the road. :x

Spent next 20min coughing as throat was too dry from hard work for the KOM :(
Mixed day really.

Pleasant temp, dry and some blue skies for the ride back yesterday afternoon, the northerly, however, was still around too to keep me busy on the way back.
Melbourne this morning was pretty cool after another stormy night. Slightly damp roads in places, and fairly windy. Still dodging debris on the shared paths.
Happy Friday! :D
