Living Sydney - "policy" on bike rego & insurance

Just found the following web site (a policital group that looks to be contesting the next Sydney council elections)...

They appear to be a bit misguided, for example the following statement around bicycle accidents...

there is no insurance cover for either the rider or the unfortunate victim involved.

Considering that in an accident the rider is usually also the "unfortunate victim" then their suggestion of compulsory third party insurance won't make much difference to this as it won't cover the rider/victim!

There's also a list of points about rego, numberplates and ID cards which appears completely unenforceable (I don't believe that the council has the power to impose restrictions on cyclists who live outside their area when on public streets)

Oh, yes... and the registration will "ensure that the road rules are adhered to"... Despite the fact that this doesn't seem to work on cars!

Don't worry too much about "Living Sydney", widely regarded as a front for developers. In yesterday's council election Clover Moore was comfortably returned as Lord Mayor & her team won 5 of the 10 councilors, giving her 6 of 11 votes.

Living Sydney remain hopeful of getting one councilor.

This was unsurprising for a council where 40% of voters do not own a car. The complaints about Clover largely come from people who drive to the CBD

Which is what annoys me because every time they make a public / press announcement they seem to talk as if they solely own everything and only want super 5 lane highways and multi level car parks around town

They failed rather spectacularly against Clover. The people have spoken!

We love Clover, and we want more bike lanes/paths.

The complaints come from people who want a large affordable home with quick/easy access to the CBD.

This is probably impossible economically. To apply engineering principles...

Clover got mayor + 4 councillors, so 5 of the 10 votes.

Living Sydney managed to just scrape one in (after 56 counts)
