Re: Qld weather venting postsThis morning was noticeably warmer.. no need for a jumper on the ride in I'm thinking.
Had a lunch time run.. oh boy, felt like a combination of sahara heat mixed with the humidity of FN Qld. It's going to be a struggle acclimatising to the heat again
Re: Qld weather venting postsI had not a sceric of winter riding clothes on this morning.
Once you can climb hills on a bike it's all downhill.
Hopefully I'll know what that's like..... one day. ![]()
Re: Qld weather venting postsI think I'm going to have to get an indoor trainer and live in the air con, it's already too hot for me (we are back to having the air on 24/7)...
Just got back from a month in NZ to try and make it through this "winter" you think you have, winter here is more like tassie summer. I don't like it.
Re: Qld weather venting postsYou're gonna suffer once we get to Spring next month, then possibly die 3 months later when summer hits.

Re: Qld weather venting posts
Never thought I'd say it in August, but at 5am today it was almost too warm. Had spring gear on and we ended up a pool of sweat. Ha ha! Cookies on dowels.
Re: Qld weather venting posts
Still plenty of guys wearing full warmers and gillets this morning....seriously??? Was great to not bother with all the extras today...the washing pile just got smaller Lisa
Re: Qld weather venting posts^^yes i'll have to be going earlier.
saw a guy out the other day (when it was 26 at around lunch time) full winter gear on, longens, thermal and one of those around the neck warmer things pulled up onto his chin...I'd be dead without riding in that...
Re: Qld weather venting postsEarly Sat morning, we drove down to Canungra only to watch the temp plunge from 12 to 5C. The first 15 minutes of the ride to Binna Burra were decisively painful on the fingers. Nevertheless, another 15 minutes into the climb, and fingers were fine and I was unzipping gilet and jersey.
Re: Qld weather venting postsAnother beautiful Brisbane morning, which saw a significant increase in River loop traffic.

Re: Qld weather venting postsAnyone complaining about Queensland weather needs to live...I dunno, somewhere else. LOVE the weather here, love the variety of seasons, the heat, the humidity, mild winters, wet season, autumn and spring. The amount of Cairns folk that whinge at any given season is incredible. And really, really annoying... "Too hot, too cold, too wet..." Seriously, we just have it so good here.
Yep, it's gonna get bloody warm over the next few months, and wet to boot, but bring it on. This is paradise!! Felt F2/DuraAce/FSA/RS80/GatorSkins
Re: Qld weather venting posts
My former boss was from Melbourne. He told me that Queenslanders whine about the weather no matter what it is. That has certainly been true in my experience but I'm not about to change. Today I had to put up with a headwind as I peddled madly up the hills. Very annoying. I wish the wind was blowing the other direction. 2012 Oppy A4 | 200x Hard tail Kona Blast Deluxe
Re: Qld weather venting posts
On one section of my daily ride, I normally average about 40kph. Today I was struggling to hit 30kph the wind was so strong. A good work out though
Re: Qld weather venting postsA lot has to be said in favour of a loop, but having said that , have started a river loop with a westerly headwind, to have it swing to a south-easterly headwind as the sun rose.
Anyway what a glorious sunrise today. Made the ride just perfect. Ha ha! Cookies on dowels.
Re: Qld weather venting postsThe laundry is definitely cutting down. How good is the weather in the mornings now? I'm loving it
Re: Qld weather venting postsIt's been good to bank a few KOM's that are only possible when no headwind is present.

Re: Qld weather venting posts
+1, with 2 cyclists in this house the washing pile gets huge with all the winter gear...not having to worry about all the extra layers makes commuting just that little bit easier too! Splendid morning today for the ride to work! Lisa
Re: Qld weather venting posts
?? You don't wear your gear three or four times before a good airing and another three or four before washing?????? How very odd Felt F2/DuraAce/FSA/RS80/GatorSkins
Re: Qld weather venting posts9 degrees this morning. 9!! What is this, Tasmania?!

Re: Qld weather venting postsGusty WSW at over 20knots this morning - lousy push into the headwind around the river loop down Coro Drive & UQ.
Then the wind dies off for the ride home! Ha ha! Cookies on dowels.
Re: Qld weather venting postsBeautiful weather this morning, except for the gusty head winds. I say gusty because every corner I turned the head winds seemed to hit my with renewed vigor. there was no way I was getting Strava PRs this morning
Re: Qld weather venting posts
ha 9! try the days where it hardly gets to 5 all day, ahhhh..... Its already far far too hot for me
