Thats a better looking stem, but the black seat post is a bit dicey.munga wrote: getting better?

Posted some bad pics of my newly acquired Raleigh Panasonic in another thread a few days ago. Told it would be more appropriate to post it here. http://www.bicycles.net.au/forums/viewt ... 23&t=55847
Bike given to me last week by my brother-in-law Garry. Garry said he bought it in Singapore back in 1985, while he was there competing in a dragon boat race, representing Australia. He used the bike till about 1992 and has been garaged ever since.
The serial number under the BB is WP6000934.
He says all the components are as he bought it back then in '85. The pedals, seatpost and seat were missing. I temporarily used parts from a 1952ish Alcone Road bicycle - Brooks B17, Campag Record 27.2 seatpost and 1950s Campag pedals. This is only temporary of course.
The bike rides beautifully, brakes are excellent. Not sure about the tyres.

I'm pretty chuffed as I've been trying to find a nice mixte for quite some time, and this one makes a nice companion to my Ti Panasonic.
I'm still deciding on how to set this one up. I've got some nice Campy bits and pieces that would suffice for a single speed (which would suit my girlfriend), but I also have a full 600 Arabesque group sitting in a box just waiting to be used. I'll leave it open.

yeah i'm not jealous at all.pentlandexile wrote:OK here's the Comp back from Joe's. The quality of the paint job is fantastic. He's also brazed on new shifter bosses and bottle cage bosses and cleaned up the head badge. The decals aren't quite the same as original, a bit more pimped out.

Here's a tidy Raleigh Viva Mixte: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/duncraig ... 1008660972" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;vaeske wrote:correct me if i'm wrong but isn't this just a ladies step through? mixtes have the sloping down tube going straight through to the rear dropouts. not bad at all, seems like a nice pickup for less than a 6pack!
Not sure about the rims, surely black rims were not standard for this era of bike?

Speaking of Raleigh Mixte's though, did anyone grab this pearler?
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/320997803364 ... _cvip=true" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It was listed on ebay twice before going up on gumtree. I can't find a current listing so I'll assume it's was bought.
